@friedchips it should take about a week. It’s an app so idk how to share a link
@friedchips UCSC might not be the best UC, but it’s still a UC, and the rigor of the UC system is very real, AND AGAIN I EMPHASIZE AS A STEM MAJOR. Sure your CC classes are VERY difficult, but talk to me after you transfer lol.
I am sooo happy more transfers are finally getting notified the app is currently being taken over by high schoolers
What app are you talking about, @Hiitsnaomi ?
@tarrrrssss let me clarify that i’m also speaking about STEM. you’re telling me to talk to you after i attend a UC because i don’t understand, but have you ever experienced the life as a full-time CC student? so HOW do you know it’s really THAT different if you’ve never experienced the advanced STEM courses here? like of course, i know all UC’s are good, but that doesn’t mean that CC’s can’t offer SOME courses of the same quality, especially my CC which is nationally recognized as one of the top
i admit that i’ve never had direct experience at a UC, but i do have many friends that tell me about their experiences at UC’s. among them, i have a couple of friends that are STEM majors at UCSC (majoring cs/math/engineering) that maintain above 3.7 GPA’s who will probably successfully transfer. so now, instead of comparing yourself to us, why don’t you compare yourselves to them?
you knew that when you chose the UCSC route for the college experience that it would be a harder way to transfer. it’s your choice to not go to a community college and it’s your responsibility to follow up on your decision by maintaining a high enough GPA to be competitive against others with an advantage
tldr; stop comparing our educations because your way of transferring and your GPA was your own choice and responsibility
sorry if this came out as rude, but this just gets me heated because my academic experiences isn’t as easy as you make it seem. i had to put in the effort to be rewarded with my acceptances
@tarrrrssss your classes sound like a lot of my upper division courses at my CC. You don’t sound very competitive tbh.
Quality of CC classes vary. Usually GE classes are curved down and made really easy while major classes can be more difficult or ‘weeding’. It depends on what the professor’s strategy is.
@csayala93 Your CC offers “upper division” course work? That would be awesome if it’s accurate, it would save so much money for CC students. (You DO know that upper division in undergraduate course work refers to third and fourth year courses, right?)
@tarrrrssss Quality of CC classes vary as @anikom15 stated above. As far as a UCSC 3.5 gpa bettering a 4.0 gpa at a CC, I’m not so sure you are in a position to know. My bro transferred from his CCC with a 3.49 to UCSC without all his major prereqs and graduated in two years with a 3.96 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He got one freshman level class waived and took more than 25 units his second quarter. He only had one quarter as light as 15 quarter units. He loved UCSC, he loved the gorgeous forest, and the sweet souls and it turned him from a three-year CCC grad into an academic beast we are all very proud of. My oldest brother transferred from his CCC with about a 3.6 and had a 4.0 his first 4 quarters at UCI, he was a microbiology major.
@MaMoi77 I guess I don’t know the exact term to use but you probably understood what I meant haha
Hi guys, I couldn’t find a Facebook group for fall 2015 transfers so I made one. The name of the group is “UCSD Transfer Students Fall 2015”.
Feel free to join and tell other transfer students about it so we can all get to know each other and help each other out with any questions we have.
Thanks guys, hope to see you all there
the housing message worked, i got the “good” one and i got accepted!
I’ve tutored some UC students in calc/physics and their coursework is no different than what I had at a CC.
Why is this even being discussed here?
@Doisys because i got offended when the tarrrrrrrrs guy said “Wait listed lol 3.5 management science major from UCSC Which is **** because a 3.5 at UCSC is so equal to a 4.0 at CC”. i probably overreacted but it’s just very irritating to always be looked down on when you go to a CC since it’s not always as smooth sailing as people think it is, lolz
That kind of elitist drivel is extremely prevalent on forums like this. Have to learn to ignore it.
@FuturePAinCA it’s the link UCSD gives to all admitted students it’s some school app but connected through facebook. The majority at the moment are high school seniors but now that more transfers have been notified it is a matter of time that transfers start taking over especially with triton day on the 9th
@csergah can’t find it
@Hiitsnaomi mind passing on the link?
sorry if this was asked/answered before, but is there a UCSD Transfer Fall 2015 Facebook page? =)
@kitcat12 yes its “UCSD Transfer Students Fall 2015”. I made one because I wasnt able to find one. Hopefully it helps
