@TonyStark93 What about UCSB? Have you visited there?
Haha…UCSD = University of California Socially Dead.
UCSB = University of California Sexy Blonde.
UCSB = U can study buzz
Just SIR’d irvine. Enjoy my spot, whoever!
I got my admission package today in Santa Monica.
But I’m vacating my Econ spot in Warren College: I’m SIRing my way to the Heavens* tonight.
Such is the anxiety of college admissions.
- I hope that I will not regret making this statement later on.
UCSD is an awesome school academically! That is most important if you ask me… But for those of you in need of partying, I also know plenty of people who are in Greek life that have awesome social lives! I’m sure the party scene isn’t nearly as intense as UCSB, but SDSU is 20 mins away, Pacific Beach is 10-15 mins away and has tons of bars, and Downtown is 15-20 mins away and has lots of super fun clubs and restaurants. And the beaches in SD are beautiful!! I’m a native and I love it here!
@TonyStark93 did you visit UCSB on a typical day, or was it an event day? if it was on a normal day, what’s the difference between the general atmosphere of UCSB and UCSD? i don’t really understand what makes UCSD socially dead haha (i haven’t visited)
just wondering haha, either way i’m still going to UCSD!
It’s not as great of a difference as you think it is. Calm your tits. @bioC95
@bioC95 mm i understand your point, but there’s different factors for different people, like “environment” is certainly a factor for a lot of us! and also, it really depends on the majors and fields if you’re trying to academically compare UCSD and UCSB
@bioC95 He’s not an “idiot” then. I can’t speak for him but it’s either SB or SD for him. He’s clearly aware of the fact that he’ll get a world-class education regardless. So in his case, social aspect can be a big factor when deciding. Do you have a problem with that?
I would completely understand if it was for financial or personal matters. However, if you’re choosing a school based on partying and judging another by one visit, then i think it’s just stupid. I’ve been to every UC campus, an was accepted to UCLA and Berkley, but UCSD by far had the best campus. I’ve stayed at the village for a weekend with a friend and there were parties everywhere. All I’m saying is you can’t judge a school by just spending a day there. Choose a school that is better for your MAJOR. Go to that school, and I’m sure there will be parties.
Does anyone know what the conditions to keep your acceptance are for UCSD?
you @PrincetonLo check your own personal conditions through your ucsd portal. scroll to the bottom of the triton “you’ve been admitted/congrats” page and click on proceed and there u should see a button saying “view my conditional contract” or whatever
I generally dislike the slow pace of San Diego itself, but UCSD has a very large, very beautiful campus. I study there every weekend because I really enjoy the atmosphere at Geisel and Price Center. UCSD waitlisted me and Berkeley offered me a bunch of money to attend so it looks like I’m off to Berkeley but I would have been very happy at UCSD knowing I was receiving an education from one of the best schools in the country and not caring how socially dead it is there.
Anyone want to help me make a decision between Berkeley and here?
Public Health major (Pre Med)… Help me…
@friedchips I visited during a regular weekday and stayed at a friends place for 2 days. Then I visited UCSB again during Spring Break which was pretty intense.
I also suggest you visit UCSD before making your final decision.
I was 50/50 on going to UCSD, but after visiting on Friday just to see if the stories were true, I was severely disappointed and realized its not a school for me.
Is anyone else’s UCSD my application not working?
Mines down too
@bioC95 even though i’m going to UCSD over UCSB, i think you’re being quite rude. you’re basically just dissing a bunch of colleges just because of their ranking. also look at the link you showed us. if you scroll down, UCSB actually ranks higher than UCSD in some academic areas

It really is dependent on your major! And in the end, it is your own unique decision to choose where you would like to go to school. I fell in love with UCSD during my campus tour while @TonyStark93 felt the opposite effects… Everyone has their own opinions! We should all just be happy for each other (and for ourselves) for getting in to all of these amazing schools! Congrats to everyone!
