Does anyone have information on the Cal Grant?
got the packet today! lmao i expected more from it
@friedchips really? I haven’t gotten mine yet,
how does it look like?
@gac146 someone said this before but its just like a blue packet with the triton mascot on it! inside it comes with a letter, a certificate of admission, a small pamphlet about living on campus, and this artsy activity to make king triton LOL idk i just wished the pamphlet included more information lmao
@gac146 It’s really nice! Comes with a cutout Triton guy as well
But then again this is the only packet I’ve received so far…
My D received her packet yesterday and it looks great. She is very excited about going to UCSD!
Do you guys know if cal grant and blue and gold program are the same? on my estimated grant, it only has cal grant below the page it said i am eligible for the blue and gold program which will pay the tuition as well?
@jzonnn The blue and and gold opportunity program is fulfilled through grants and scholarships.
Speaking of financial aid, does anyone else have to send in a highschool transcript for financial aid?
@Suzuken we need to apply for an IGETC application? is this for all CCC oh my, I should get on that.
@TonyStark93 Omg I’m in the same boat as you, except I got waited for UCSD for Econ. I recently visited UCSB this weekend and the environment is so friendly and calm. However, my dream school is USC!! Fingers crossed for both of us.
Does UCSD admit anyone from the waitlist? I know it’s different every year but I hope they have in the past? There’s no data I can find about this.
I was waitlisted and applied as chemical engineering, since both my majors were impacted engineering majors, even if I get admitted to UCSD I apparently wouldn’t forsure be picked for my intended major, this is what the admission person told me over the phone. I don’t get why I would go to the school under a different major. This longer wait just kills me…
Waitlisted at both UCSD and UCI
ucsd does admit people off the waitlist, i believe they do it by a GPA cut off (last year was somewhere around a 3.48 so i’m assuming a 3.5 for this year since it only gets more and more competitive)
Not sure if that GPA cutoff is true but it could be something like that. Also there’s a brief statement you must write to claim your waitlist spot so I feel like that is a considering factor for them too. I was hoping the waitlist was for the major your applied for but its only for admission to the school itself, that really sucks…

Does anyone know when we’re supposed to enroll in classes for fall?
Result: Accepted! (around ~April 17th)
Major: Physics (B.S.)
Community College GPA: 3.56
UC Transferrable GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Yes
Pre-requisites: Missing Phys 2D, Math 20E, and a programming class, because they had no course articulated at my school, according to assist.org, except the programming class.
Other/Notes: I had an odd kind of GPA trend, unfortunately mostly downward trending with a B in my 1st phys (after withdrawing from it the previous semester), 1st chem, and 2nd calc courses; while I got a C in my 2nd phys, 3rd calc, and diff. eq… This was on top of withdrawing from 4 courses (honors bio during my 3rd and 4th regular semesters. However, I obtained A grades in all my other courses/pre-reqs (including Bio for science major and IGETC courses), including during a 12 unit summer session between my 4th and 5th regular semesters.
Applied: UCSB, UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSD
Accepted: UCSB (TAG), UCD, UCSD
Rejected: UCLA, UCB
I think my personal statements did a huge amount of muscle work, considering my downward trending GPA. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the admissions process or what I did for my application.
Damn, it seems like I cannot be California residence for tuition… How can I pay tuition for non-resident even though I live CA for more than 4 years
I plan on taking calc 4 during summer at a UC, I was wondering do i have to take a placement test? Looking at UCI transfer edge they make you take a placement test which I find stupid
Some community colleges offer calc 4 for 1/10 of the UC price.
@wangb83 hii first off, congrats in getting biochem! that’s my major as well
and second, i have a question! you know when you submitted your application? when you submitted it at november, was your gpa like 3.5? Because if so, what if at that term at december you received the fall semester final grades and then your gpa shot up to maybe 3.7? Will colleges see that as well? basically im asking if colleges will see what you’re doing up to before acceptance letters came out? ! like what if during my first year at community college, my gpa was a 3.3 THEN during this summer and next fall, my gpa shot up! how’s my chances of getting in? sorry for this, but im currently a freshman in cc and im planning to transfer for next year fall.
