It was a hard choice. Decided to go with UCSB because I was admitted to the College of Creative Studies which I felt would offer me a more personalized education and greater opportunities for what I wanted. I would’ve gone to Cal or UCSD because I like the big city environment and campuses better, but I didn’t really vibe with UCLA’s although it isn’t bad by any means.

Yeah, I already went to orientation, met people, found a roommate, got the dorm I wanted, got a really good schedule with classes that will let me finish GEs in 2-3 quarters, but I can’t fully enjoy it with the waitlist still dangling in front of me haha (at least Cal gave a definitive answer on theirs). Maybe I’ll apply to transfer since I have enough credits to do so in a year but I’m sure by that point I’ll have fallen in love with the school and not want to leave.
omg wait im committed to ucsb too! although ucsd is lingering at the back of mind, i’d love to meet new people from sb :')

I have been waitlisted and had taken the IB, should I have sent my results? Because the ib results official transcript takes time to request anyways so it maybe reasonable that I have not submitted it yet to admissions or does this influences my chances of getting off the waitlist?
You do not submit test scores or transcripts until admitted off the waitlist. Your IB scores will not make a difference at this point.

Any hope guysss? I feel like the more reading I do on here and on reddit the more and more I lose hope in my application making it off the waitlist!
Honestly, when will UCSD notify us about their decision? I received my waitlist notification back in march (4 months ago!).
Yet the start of August is right around the corner and still no update.
how will we all react if they only sent out rejections after waiting this long? i’d be so upset

Officially today we landed in the month of August. Many semester based colleges are starting in about 3 weeks time frame, some in the name of early-bird concept, is starting by 12th of August. It is very true that most candidates do not want to accept any change at this point of the game and are very tuned to stay committed with their current admitted college. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush is what I am convincing myself these days. Still no news from UCSD.

I meant Purdue is starting it’s BGR (boiler gold rush session) by 12th of August. Most semester based colleges start by 26th of August, some offer some early start or something like that to encourage students to embrace the campus the sooner. That is what I meant.
I called UCSD Undergraduate Admission Office and was told that transfer waitlist will close on 08/12/24 and the end of August for freshman waitlist. My student have already registered classes for Fall quarter at another UC 4 days ago! But we’re still praying for miracle to happen

Still no love from UCSD. I remember reading a post on CC that said something to the effect of “love the school that loves you back.” I guess each applicant needs to ask themselves…“am I better off at the school I’m already committed to?” Maybe UCSD is just banking on applicant attrition at this point?
