UC San Diego Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

Any idea how big was the batch that was accepted yesterday

How many students got off SD waitlist and for what majors please, thanks?

Please let me know where and how to find more information about people who got off UCSD waitlist couple days ago, thanks

I think people are referring to this reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/1c1l1ay/got_off_ucsd_waitlist/

It does not look like a “wave” or a “batch” or people who moved off the waitlist, just few random people.

Weird so just couple of people or few people! I wonder what triggered that

I guess I should have my daughter start checking her emails. I didn’t expect she would possibly hear anything until after the 15th of May for the UC and certainly not this early. Good information to have. Does anyone know how much time someone has to accept an offer off the waitlist this early? Would students have until May 15 at least? My daughter has pretty much decided where she will SIR for now at least but we are mainly waiting on financial aid.

For the few who got off the UCSD waitlist they checked their portals (vs getting an email), so have her check her portal.

The post was Tagged with the category “Fluff”?? Which can have different meanings so I am being skeptical if these posts are real or not. If you are a lurker on Reddit like myself, posters often try to get a rise out of other posters so they will post inaccurate information. I would be more convinced if any of the College Confidential posters would confirm an acceptance off the waitlist.

Thank you

Now the Reddit users are stating the Waitlist admits were a glitch and not accurate so again I am not sure what is going on with the waitlist admits. No one has been able to confirm their waitlist admit so many questions???

That place

I’m guessing a lot of students got accepted at Ivies or Cal at the end of the month and declined their UCSD acceptance.

To be clear, it appears that no waitlist admits for UCSD or any other UC as previously reported.

How does housing work if you get off the waitlist late in the game? Is it still available or not

Waitlisted students are guaranteed housing but of course their choices are more limited.

For the GPAs provided by the campuses, do we know if they include all HL/CL/AP/IB grades? Or, just HL/AB/IB? I get the sense that dual enrollment is not included in data like this. Noticing it with Naviance.

UCSD specifically lists only their Capped weighted UC GPA range on the website but it will include any UC Approved Honors, AP/IB or UC Transferable DE courses up to 8 semesters.

GPA 4.11–4.29 Capped weighted.

Although all UC’s consider all 3 UC GPA’s, most will only post the Capped weighted data. The UW and Uncapped Weighted are used for statistical analysis mainly.

UCLA and UCB are the exceptions.

I feel like something is very different across the UCs with admission this year and was thinking it was DE.

I have noticed that more HS’s are offering DE courses for HS students and they are taking advantage of these courses but I am not sure that this has changed the overall UC admissions process to any extent.

When would be the earliest date and latest date UCSD will notify students on the 2024 waitlist? Thanks.
