They must have over enrolled last year. If not they are rolling the dice waiting that long to take students off the WL. Many will have moved on.

It doesnā€™t make sense as all UCs require HS transcripts and AP scores to be submitted by July and they also having on campus housing guarantee for first year freshman.

Almost feels as though whoever you spoke with was told to give you an August answer so they donā€™t keep getting calls asking about the waitlist.

Having said that the UCSD waitlist letter does say to expect a response from them by mid to late summer which would fit the August timeline.

Just got off the phone with a front-line person from admission - UCSD will begin the process June 1st until August.

Does anybody know if in-state ELC candidates are given preference when admitting off the waitlist for UCs?

btw is there a difference in the waitlist order between out-of-state students and international students?

ELC is part of the 13 areas of criteria used for the original application review and the waitlist determinations are just a continuation of that application so it would be a consideration. Above all, what UCSD considers their institutional priorities and available spaces will be the main factor for admissions.

No there is no set order other than if UCSD does not meet enrollment targets for OOS or International or In-state, they will pull from the waitlist to meet these targets.

Do you know if the UCs also consider gender, race and in-state location (bay area vs san diego vs
LA etc.) in their institutional priorities for putting together a diverse student class while admitting off the waitlist?

UCā€™s are race and gender blind but location of your residence and HS are considered in the application review process. More to identify SES student status and give context to your academic HS record.

Called admissions office and they mentioned that they started admitting from waitlist and will continue till late summer

iā€™m assuming the operators are probably students who work in the admissions office, so maybe they donā€™t have the most accurate info?? iā€™m honestly so confused and unsure of how theyā€™re dealing with the waitlist. however i havenā€™t seen anyone post about being admitted yet so i guess we can only wait and see
