Wave at 8 please

Anyone heard about any waitlist movement for Political Science yet? We haven’t heard of any just yet. Thanks

In same boat for Political Science. Have not seen/heard anything specifically but am curious as well.

Any comp sci off waitlist?

My daughter is a freshmen poli sci and loving it! Go Gauchos! I am watching the WL movement for a mom friend. Good luck everyone! Last year there was a lot of WL admits so hoping the same is true this year.

Do you know what percent of appeals are approved? Also when do rejections or acceptances of the appeals usually get released

UCSB has not posted any appeal data for the last 3 years but usually less than 2% of appeals are approved. Appeals are reviewed on a case by case basis and spots are not set aside for appealing students so admissions needs to determine if there are spots available not only for the waitlisted students but for any appeals that may get approved.

Historically appeal decisions are posted in June near the end of the month but it can vary.

Did anyone get in on thurs

I just saw someone on Reddit saying they got in either yesterday or this morning for Physics.

i got off on monday

Anyone get off today?

May I ask if you are hoping for an engineering admittance? Were you admitted for an alt major, and have you committed to UCSB under that alt major?

My daughter is waitlisted for Mech Eng, but was admitted for her alternate, Chemistry, and committed to UCSB with that major while remaining on Eng WL.
Waitlist students in engineering who commit and attend UCSB with alt majors remain on the engineering waitlist until the end of their freshman year, capable of being accepted into engineering at any time prior to, and for the entirety of, that freshman year if a spot becomes available.

My daughter visited UCSB two weeks ago. She asked her guide (a fourth year engineering student) about the Eng waitlist. His response was clear: if you are waitlisted for engineering but accepted for, and commit to, an alt major you stand a chance of getting off the Engineering waitlist. But if you were not admitted under an alt major - not committed to UCSB - and are merely WL for engineering (on the outside looking in) you are not getting off the waitlist - “It won’t happen.”

She had been accepted to SLO for ME, but UCSB was always her first choice so she was committing there no matter what.
If you have not committed to UCSB at this point, it appears unlikely you will come off the list for engineering.
I’m sorry.
