I have only seen UCSB close the portal just before the Freshmen and Transfer regular decisions not before waitlist decisions but there is a first time for everything.

Have they already released transfer decisions? Maybe the portal is down for that.

yeah it was out 4/23 I believe thats why they closed the portal for the first time. It said on the portal closure message. BUT this time its different, it was supposed to be closed until today but got pushed back to tmrw

Supposing we have a fortunate outcome from a (pick your choice) UC waitlist, how will applicant portal outages affect our ability to navigate the decisions and action items we would have?

We would presumably have to (1) review the financial aid info, (2) submit SIR, (3) pay SIR deposit, (4) engage with freshman housing process. ā€¦.

What else would require quick action? Is all of that via Applicant Portal?

The UCā€™s do have occasional portal downtimes due to maintenance so I am sure that waitlist admits will be given a long enough timeline to SIR, pay the enrollment deposit and apply for housing in case there is a portal outage. Usually after the SIR deadline of May 1, waitlisted students are given 5-7 days to accept or decline.

The current outage is unusual especially since Transfer decisions just posted yesterday so not sure if this will be a recurring problem.

Yes, the all students will use the Student portal to initiate the required enrollment processes.

For Housing in particular, the Housing deadline is May 15 however late admits (waitlisted admits) who are admitted after the housing deadline are able to qualify for priority housing consideration within five days of their SIR date.
