UC Santa Barbara Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@transfergirl14 i got the family email and i am 19 lol i think its just a generic email

@transfergirl14 If it has anything to do with our application or age I’m screwed lol. I just turned 26 and wrote about being a single mom on my application. If anyone needs family housing, it’s me.

I thought I didn’t get the email but I checked my junk mail and it was there so maybe check there?

I don’t think the email indicates anything because on the bottom of the email there is an option that says “Remove me from future messages”. Usually emails like that are just sent automatically to anyone who is subscribed to the UCSB email list! so if you didn’t get it I really wouldn’t worry about it!

Yeah, located it in my junk mail lol.

The email is not an indicator of acceptance/denial. It is an email that they send to everyone because family housing is something that has to be planned well in advance because the waitlist is so long.

Last year, transfer decisions began to roll out starting March 19th, but this year when logging into the portal it says April 22nd. That’s kinda late, no? Does anyone else think they might start rolling out this week? I sure hope so! good luck y’all <3

From looking at last year’s thread, they began seeing decisions March 19th but the decisions rolled out until late April (which could mean that April 22nd is the date when everyone will have a definite answer). The big difference is that they were emailed that admissions decisions would start March 19th. I would be happy if they rolled out again this year!

My portal is down, but probably because freshmen applicants hear back today.

@HopefulBruin569 @flyingpancakes00

It specially says:
"Decisions are being posted on this site beginning on March 17, 2020 for most freshman applicants. Decisions for transfer applicants are being announced on April 22, 2020.
All freshman decisions will be completed by March 31. Transfer decisions will be finalized by April 30."

So,
Freshmen March 17-31
Transfers April 22-30

I actually contacted the UCSB admissions office and they told me they will post TAG decisions starting April 22nd. My friend actually got in through TAG apparently 2 days ago, and I was trying to figure out how the hell he got it sooo early. But they said they could not speak about his decision. Very odd. I am so dam nervous, since we have to wait until April 22nd to find out if we got in or not.

with corona virus causing people to loose their jobs/have less income, do you guys think this means different enroll rates for the UC campuses? not as many people will be able to afford tuition maybe even with financial aid help… i’m wondering if an email will go out later addressing this. if people don’t commit to their admissions offers based on money than do they just take a smaller transfer class? i’m assuming all apps have been reviewed at this point…

@sbpbs2020 , I don’t know a direct answer to your question, but I do know all of the UC’s are getting a lot of money to help COVID-19 related things, which, if I understand it correctly, includes extra financial aid to families whose financial situation changed significantly. Maybe that will help. It will be so sad if people who worked so hard couldn’t now go to a school they got into and could otherwise have afforded.

If I can find the link where I read that, I’ll share.

hey guys, i know it’s pretty late and maybe pointless to do this now but why not… (applied this cycle for Fall 2020)

CCC student
UC GPA as of Fall 2019: 3.29
UC GPA as of Spring 2020: 3.37
IGETC: Done by end of Spring 2020
Pre-Majors: All of Area 1 & 3, missing Bio to complete Area 2
Major: Pre-Psych & Brain Sciences or Alt. Biopsych (hope to get my first choice a lot more)

kind of worried but hoping for the best… UCSB starts admitting at 3.2 according to my school rep, but 3.4 was the TAG and I missed the deadline

Hi guys idk how much info any of you would have on this in particular but I’m in my first year at a junior college. I took a bunch of AP’s in high school and they counted towards a bunch of IGETC stuff so I had half my units done by fall 2019. I figured I might as well apply to the UC’s since I would be meeting the IGETC and unit requirements. I took 15 units in the fall and 15ish more units this semester so I’ll be done with everything by the end of this semester. I was wondering if anyone else is a first year transfer student as well/ if anyone knows more info on the stats of first year transfer students acceptance rates. This is a little late I know lol.

Fall 2019 GPA: 4.0
TAG: Did not meet requirements for it in the Fall 2019
IGETC: completed by the end of Spring Semester
Pre-reqs: Completed
Major: first choice Political Science, second choice History
Ecs: Not much but I work as a full time manager at Nike
Schools applied to: UCSB, UCLA
I figured that these schools are my top, so if I don’t get in this year, I can TAG tot UCSB next year.

@aamandataylor there’s a thread for first year transfers if you wanna check that out

now i can only speak for UCSB since I didn’t apply for UCLA, but i know that they don’t care how many years you’ve been at CC. It means nothing to them. SB only looks at GPA, 60 UC units by end of Spring, good academic standing, and IGETC. they do not read essays or take ECs into account. have you gone to a 4 year already and dropped out? in that case you would need to consider contacting them. otherwise don’t worry about the number of years.

@aamandataylor

hi, how do you know they disregard personal statements and extracurriculars?
