@Gumbymom I could not agree more! You helped calm me with D22 and here I am again with S24. You should write a humorous book about all of us crazy parents and students. Some of the comments have left me in stitches and tamed my anxiety! I hope they pay you well…you’re invaluable!
I think she does it out of goodness of her heart. I don’t think she gets paid by CC for this (I may be wrong)

Gumbymom gives so much of her time to helping all of us parents, and of course the student applicants. I’ve been on CC since 2010 (I think began reading in 2007) when I first began helping my oldest kid. This year, my youngest (of four kids) is going through the admissions process. I appreciate all the help we’ve received here on CC, but special shout out to Gumbymom!

I got an email about ucsc regents, how competitive is that? Cause on the website it says on 50 people get it but is that true??
Congratulations.
Regents is very competitive usually top 1-2% of applicants.
The Regents Scholarship carries the highest honor awarded by the University of California, Santa Cruz to entering undergraduates. Award amounts for New frosh are $20,000 paid over 4 years, and transfer students receive $10,000 paid over 2 years. In addition to a monetary award, scholars receive priority enrollment and priority University housing placement provided, all housing requirements and deadlines are met.
Note that for all continuing students UCSC is going to a housing lottery system which includes Regent Scholars.
What does it mean if I got ucsc regents but flat out rejected by sd and la, is it all random??
Not random but school specific since each school may use the same 13 areas of criteria for their application review but each campus can weight all these factors differently so your decision results will vary by each campus.
