For what it’s worth, my son was admitted in the February wave in 2023, but didn’t get a scholarship or honors invitation - so there’s for sure not a 1-for-1 correlation.
Didn’t get the " Why UCSC" email and no updates in portal. Major intended: Computer Science.
Email acceptance for CS major for UCSC
Edit to add:
4.23 UC GPA.
7 APs including senior year, rest honors.
Taking AP Calculus AB in senior year.
Average ECs, no leadership. Solo published games.
My subjective opinion is that his PIQs were very strong, probably the strongest part of his application.
My daughter just got admitted for Psychology! (in state)
I think her UC weighted capped GPA was ~3.95
Congratulations. What were the stats?
Just wanted to let everyone know that my oldest daughter was admitted in the second wave in 2022 and received an honors college invitation.
Got in for chemistry. Let’s goooooo. Still waiting for the other UCs tho
My daughter was accepted with Sociology today.
I don’t see a decision yet for my daughter.
Nothing yet for my daughter - applied for art history.
Any undeclared majors heard today?
When people here mean UC GPA, do they typically mean the capped weighted GPA, or the uncapped weighted GPA (which is typically higher)?
Do the UC’s consider the uncapped weighted GPA in their admissions decisions?
Sorry for the off-topic post. I am not sure what people here mean by UC GPA.
My D24 got her acceptance at 4:02pm PST today.
Weighted and Capped GPA: 3.74
Proposed Major: Cognitive Science
For the majority of the UC’s, the capped weighted UC GPA is what is most commonly reported. The UC’s consider 3 UC’s GPA (unweighted, capped weighted and uncapped fully weighted) in their application review. If the admitted students are using the template I posted, they should list all 3.
UCLA/UCB tend to emphasize the Uncapped fully weighted. Most of the UC’s use the Uncapped fully weighted to determine rigor and for statistical purposes.
Has anyone’s decisions arrived in the last few hours? Just wondering if they have all been sent out now so I can stop hitting refresh on the portal!
Decision was in email. S24 didn’t check portal.
It sounds like the emails showed up about 4 hours after the UCSC portal updated.
UCSC Admissions instagram posted telling applicants to check their email & then followed up saying don’t worry if you didn’t hear, “more decisions will be out in the coming weeks”
