The other UCs are not on the same day. They will come out in March. Last year Irvine and Davis came out on the same day. UCSB, UCLA, UCSD next, and UC Berkeley comes out on Ivy Day.

Thank you for the reassurance. So your kids didn’t get early acceptance but got into the UCs they are in currently?

Berkeley releases admissions decisions on their own schedule.

Yes, you are right, but I guess I meant to say that the last two cycles have been on the same day as the Ivies…3/28/24, 3/30/23. That was not the case in 2022 or 2021. They seem to be the last UC school to notify results.

Historically, UCSC only does 2 decision waves. Early admits at the end of February and the rest of the decisions in Mid-March so probably not. The UC’s stick to their own timeline and change it up anytime they want just like UC Merced this year which started admitting students in December.

If it helps: My daughter is a senior at Berkeley now. If memory serves she was accepted at Cal, UCSD, UCD, UCSC and waitlisted at UCLA, UCI and UCSB. She did not get accepted early to UCSC (she did get early admission to SDSU, though-around thanksgiving I think). She also got into CSU SLO. Her roommate got Regents at Cal and was also accepted at UCLA and Stanford and didn’t nab early acceptance at SC either. Actually I do know one kid same class who got early acceptance to Santa Cruz along with regents/chancellors (whichever they do there) and it was her only UC acceptance. She’s thrived–it was a perfect match. Sometimes holistic admissions works just as it should. Hope this calms. My son is also applying this year and was not accepted early.

No, it doesn’t help. You just succeeded in worrying all the applicants who got into UCSC early. lol

if it helps: friend’s college junior (CS admit) got into UCSC early, and UCB, UCLA, UCR, UCM, UCD, UCI and was waitlisted at UCSB, undeclared at UCSD

I can see that now that I’ve had coffee. Sorry!

The upcoming UC decisions will be interesting. One of my twins received early acceptances to UCSC and CSULB but not to SDSU. Asian, 2nd/3rd gen, business tech-related major, in-state (Los Angeles), private, top 9%, just under 4.0 UW.

:rofl:D23 also got UCSC early and UCB/UCSD/UCSB/UCD so don’t worry!

Congratulations on all her acceptances!! UCD is out too??
Can you please share her stats? It will be helpful

D23 was admitted 2 years ago!

But FWIW she had great UC success and was not a ‘tippy top’ student - her UC GPA was around 3.8 unweighted, with lots of well rounded EC’s that related to her major/interest. Admitted early to UCSC and admitted to UCSB’s CCS program as well.

I’m a big believer in holistic admissions - good luck everyone!!!

It’s so variable and unpredictable. I’ve been a personal statement tutor for upwards of 15 years working with high school seniors and benefitted from some training from UC readers. There’s no evidence whatsoever that campus admission departments “talk” to each other or even that what makes you attractive to one necessarily makes you a bad fit for the institutional priorities of another. There are just too many variables for that. The only thing I consistently advise my students is to apply broadly, don’t fall in love with a single school, don’t be a snob, and look at WUE schools along with UCs and CSUs.
