UC Santa Cruz Transfer 2020 Thread

@unknown1000 you should contact the admissions office at this point it’s better than submitting another TAU since so many decisions have already come out

has financial aid awards been sent out already?

PhoenixWolf : Congrats! What was your GPA?

@hoshizora haven’t received mine yet.

tbh im not even sure. I believe its 3.6

Just checked my portal and I got accepted into my 2nd choice major which was Politics! My GPA averages around 2.50 so I feel blessed to have even been accepted.

Has anyone received financial aid info yet?

I haven’t received the package no. The financial aid status page does show my EFIC and cost to attend though. So I’d imagine their still working on it

Same says awards are not yet available

Guys! I did TAG for CS but I did not get accepted! I am so worried I won’t have anywhere to go to school this fall :frowning:
I got this email:

We have completed a thorough review of your application for admission. Unfortunately, you do not meet the major screening criteria for admission to your proposed major. However, because of your strong overall academic achievement, we would like to offer you admission into one of our non-screening majors.

My college does not provide a course that articulates with one of the required classes, so that is the only reason why I do not have it completed. Is there anything I can do?!

@ucsctraor1213 honestly I doubt there’s much that can be done. They accepted you for admission just not into the heavily impacted major you wanted bc the requirements weren’t met. Best case scenario is to attempt switching majors once you enroll but since it seems to be a major everyone is going for nowadays I don’t know how realistic that option would be.

Did anyone get accepted but not receive an email. Kind of odd

Rejected (I’m confused as to why)

GPA: 3.665
Major: cognitive science
With TAG

other universities
-UCM: accepted
-UCR: accepted
-UCI: waiting
-UCSD: waiting

Yeah I was accepted Tuesday but haven’t received an email either.

Also for anyone who’s been accepted so far, did you receive the additional message about updating your proposed major?

This is the specific message I’m referring to:
“ Your intended proposed major is listed in the page linked below. Should you wish to change your intended major, simply select the box next to your proposed major. Please note that only those majors students can change into will be displayed.”

When I click on the link provided it doesn’t actually list my proposed major. It just says “Current major: “

Then shows a list of proposed majors I guess I can switch to… Can anyone confirm that it’s not just me and probably a glitch.

I’m probably over worrying lol.

I was accepted, but not as a Computer Science major. Looking at the criteria, I do believe that I completed it all. The only thing that I can think of is that my College’s Intro to Programming class is not accepted by UC Santa Cruz. But, I was still told to apply by a UCSC admissions counselor. I sent the admissions department an email asking why I do not meet the selection criteria. I’ll list the courses that I took at my Community College, and maybe you guys can tell why I wasn’t accepted?

MATH ANALYSIS I (Calculus 1) - C
MATH ANALYSIS II (Calculus 2) - A
PROG CONCEPTS I - A
PROG CONCEPTS II - A
MATH FOR COMPSCI - A

Would my “C” grade in Calc 1 be the reason I didn’t meet the selection criteria? I even emailed my UCSC transfer counselor for my area and she said that everything looked good and I was competitive. I’m just not understanding why I didn’t meet the criteria…

From my understanding, you don’t have to change your proposed major. That list is for other possible majors you can switch into, but generally the procedure is the same. You have to go to UCSC and complete some additional requirements and then you can declare your major

You can’t switch into the major you wanted if you do decide to go. Source: I got the same email and it says you can’t switch into it.

I’m in a similar position for cognitive science. I got a B- in calc and A in everything else. They even told me I was competitive. I don’t get it

That was aimed at the people who received acceptances and it mentioned “Proposed” next to our major name. It gives us the option to switch between different majors but they’re likely non-screening majors

UCSC is quite strict with TAG. Maybe you weren’t consistent with your updates or there was something you missed in the TAG agreements. Do they give you a reason as to why they rejected your TAG?
