<p>no, UCs do not give merit money for ELC, and they are rapidly dropping out of NM participation (if they haven’t already). That being said, the UCs do offer Regent’s/Chancellor’s scholarships directly, and scholarships from the local campus Alumni club, which typically require an essay. </p>
<p>Regent’s/Chancellor’s scholarships are based primarily on gpa+test scores. The individual campuses will contact you directly and let you know if you’ve been awarded any $$, but it won’t happen for a couple of months. Cal & UCLA have formal requirements, including interviews during mid-Feb (if I recall). The other campuses will just send you a letter. Money ranges from $1-2k at Cal (the worst), to a few $k at UCLA, to full tuition and possible research stipend at the other campuses.</p>
