My daughter submitted her UCF application on October 16. We don’t expect to hear from them until December and are praying she gets accepted.

Her stats:
3.7666 Weighted GPA
Courses: All Honors with a couple AP classes
ACT: 27
SAT: 1740
She has been on the school’s dance team for four years and a varsity member for the last three years.
Community Service Hours: 75 plus.

She wrote an essay
Major: Nursing - BSN to RN track

She did not score well on her AP exams taken her Junior year. She had two major surgeries during the last half of her Junior year and missed several weeks of school which caused her grades to drop from an A to an F. She focused on bringing her grades up instead of focusing on studying for the AP exams. Her goal, at that time, was to salvage her GPA and not worry about her loss of college credits. She ended her Junior year with Five A’s and two B’s in two AP classes and five honors courses.

We are hoping she is accepted to UCF. UCF would fit our needs as parents of a student with medical issues, and it’s ten minutes away from our home. However, she will be living in campus. We are patiently waiting the Admission Committee’s decision.

FYI: She has been accepted to the following schools:
Alabama with scholarship offer
University of Alabama-Birmingham with scholarship offer
FAU
Adventist University

And she also applied to UF.

GO Knights.

Is that 3.7 GPA recalculated by UCF’s standard, or is it from your daughter’s high school?

It’s her high school GPA.

Does anybody know when they start denying people for Fall? Or if they already have?

Can somebody please chance me? I’m seriously freaking out and I can’t stop stressing over admission. It feels like everything is on the line.

Applied: 10/29/2015
In-State
Unweighted GPA: 3.02
Weighted: 3.215 (I know, kill me.)
SAT: 1720. (590 Critical Reading, 520 Math, 610 Writing.)
ACT: 26 (22 Math, 27 Science, 29 Reading, 27 Writing.)
Took a lot of honors classes, and have ranked pretty highly in my school for writing and reading scores.
My Senior rank is: 134/349
I feel like my essay was okay, my writing score for the SAT shot up 90 points when I retook it with the writing portion. Scored a 9/12 on the essay section.
I played baseball for a year and a half while in HS, but didn’t add any other EC’s or Recommendation letters. (Wasn’t thinking, should’ve sent some letters in.)

Do I have a chance? I’ve been stressing this all month, up until my head starts to hurt and my heart starts to run.

Does anyone know when UCF typically notifies students who are receiving a Pegasus Scholarship? My son was accepted, which is great; but I haven’t been able to find any info on when to expect to hear about the scholarships. This will factor into his decision, as he is currently considering UF & UCF.

@BrantleyDad I have the same question, they seem to be running late on notifications this year. Last year kids started getting awards first week of November. BTW, does brantleyson go to LB in altamonte?

Hi,
I’m sorry if this isn’t the place for me to ask but I hit a bumb in the road and i don’t know what to do. UCF is my dream school…both my parents went there, my uncle, my cousins, and my brother is transferring there. Does legacy help? So here’s my problem, I have a 3.2 GPA which is an 87 and that’s not too bad but hopefully it goes up. I’m a junior and I am currently taking AP History and my question is should I drop it or stick with it? I’m ending with like a 65 I just barley passed. I heard it looks bad if u drop it but I also heard from others I should just drop out and raise my GPA. I also got a 1300 on my first SAT (I didn’t study but I will for the next ones). I need all of your honest opinions because I have been freaking out.
With the bad grades, I just been through hell all of middle school and high school. Parents divorce, my house is getting put up for sale, my aunt was murdered by my uncle. My dad still doesn’t have a job and my mom moved to Florida (I live in New York.
I would like to know what I should do and aim for. Thanks:)!

I have very similar stats. 3.2 W GPA, but I have a 1910/1270 SAT score. Applied for Fall. Also anxious

@BrantleyDad I believe that last year the scholarship announcements started coming out late November. The first reports were around the 23rd. Good luck! We’re waiting too!

@epitcher8 There is always the community college route. UCF has a program called DirectConnect where they auto admit graduates from certain state/community colleges. Good luck!

@therealdeal19, thanks for letting me know that they seem to be running late this year. Yes, my son (and daughter) do go to Lake Brantley on Altamonte. We’re at UF for a campus visit today…he’s definitely down to UF and UCF.

@3boystogo, thanks for letting me know about the timing of last year’s announcements, that really helps. We’ll be on the lookout, especially as Thanksgiving gets closer.

@BiggieBig It isn’t too late to have your guidance counselor complete the recommendation form on their website. Under admissions forms. Good Luck!!

No you do not need a super high GPA and a huge list of extracurricular to be accepted. I only took 4 APs and 3 Honors but I did my very best at what I did. I did literally 3 extras in HIgh School but I was super committed to what I did. I got (so far) As in every subject I took. I did not have the mentality of “if I fail I’ll just take the class again”. I only took classes I knew I would do good in or I would commit to trying my best and I did not overwhelm myself. I was homeschooled and I took PLENTY of vacations over the years, but when it was time to do work I applied myself with all I had.

people who have been accepted… how long did it take for the official letter to come in the mail after your application status updated to admitted online?
