UCF is true rolling admissions, right? My son applied 10/25 and has heard nothing yet. Still “Under Review”.
UCF will admit high stats kids pretty quickly on a rolling basis. But they don’t usually reject those they pass over on a rolling basis; they kinda wait and see to see how many slots they’ll have. So those applications are in a holding status with no real end date.
Late reply but was admitted late October on a three day rolling basis after applying. In state. Stats are a 29 ACT, 4.0 GPA UW, 150+ volunteer hours, editor for school newspaper, and a few awards for leadership. Still haven’t heard about merit scholarships but I emailed admissions and they said they’ll start sending them out sometime in December. Was deferred from Honors College, but sent in supplemental materials to hopefully receive a decision sooner.
Emailed admissions and they said sometime in December.
FWIW…Someone in a facebook group just posted a response they got from UCF. Scholarship committee currently reviewing apps that were received by 11/1. Scholarship notifications to be sent out early January.
Thank you!
My son applied in October, had 1150 SAT, 3.7 UW and 4.2 W GPA, In-state. A few AP courses and DE courses… was deferred until after 1st semester of Senior year high school grades are reported. He was told to resubmit a new Spark form in January. Since then he retook the SAT and now has a superscore of 1260…he resent his scores on 11/7…they said it takes 4-6 weeks for them to process the updated scores…any thoughts on if we might get a different decision prior to having to resubmit the Spark? We are no very patient people…LOL.
I should also add that at the end of Semester 1 will he will have all A’s in his classes that include an AP course and an Honors course…
Accepted around mid-November.
Hi - You must submit transcripts. As semester is now over, you should be able to submit official Fall DE transcript from your college. “The Admissions Committee will reevaluate your application after all official college transcripts are received.” means that IF she bombs her spring classes, any offer of admission can be retracted.
My kiddo submitted DE transcripts at the same time as making the original application. UCF added them to myUCF as “final transcript”, even though they do not include receiving the actual AA. He was immediately admitted.
Hi - the better the student stats, the faster the acceptance. If you have improved test scores or great DE transcripts, make sure you send those. Students exceeding the average class stats for last year seem to get quick acceptances. Rolling admissions just means you can apply at (almost) any time. It does not mean there will be a quick decision.
Fall 2023 freshman class had an average SAT score of 1332 and an average high school GPA of 4.25.
Is Honors college admission rolling? How long after applying can we expect to hear back?
The email they sent me after applying said between 2-4 weeks. I got my decision 2 weeks on the dot-- deferred unfortunately but a decision nonetheless.
My student says that to apply to Barnett Honors he needs to wait for a Hard Copy application to be sent to him?? Is this correct? That sounds crazy that it’s not done on-line. Any other insights on the process?
At this point, since my DS applied in mid-October and hasn’t received a reply, I assume they will deny him when decisions come out… When will that happen? I find it abrasive that they just leave you hanging forever when they tout rolling admissions.
I’m sorry your son hasn’t gotten a decision. The answer could still be yes but right now they need everyone using UCF as their safety school to get their other decisions and then there should be more openings to admit students.
My son received an email from Burnett Honors College with a link to download a pdf file. He had to print and fill out that form manually, then email them the packet. He was accepted a couple of weeks after submitting the application.
UCF being a safety school is becoming a thing of the past. I know many picking UCF over UF particularly in STEM. The CS competition teams at UCF beat out the others year after year and a huge % of the aerospace workforce attended UCF. Students above last years numbers will get admitted more quickly than those below.
Oh sure, UF is a safety school for students for lots of reasons. It happens that student’s first choice is something else but they need to wait for admission/merit to make a strong decision.
I understand the context in which you are describing a safety school. Yes, one admitted many consider a school a safety because they are already accepted but many describe it as one they should “have in the bag” prior to admission. For UCF (and a multitude) of state schools in Florida the test scores and GPA’s are getting higher and higher each year moving schools that were once “safeties” into a less secure category. Our state schools are a total bargain making them highly desirable.
