From what I have seen and read it seems they admit the high stats kids fairly quickly and then the low stats kids they either deny immediately or defer wanting updated scores or grades. Your son might be stuck in the middle somewhere and those kids they leave in limbo, until who knows when? Maybe like Melissa said after other school’s decisions come out and some kids will decline admissions to UCF, then they will have another wave of acceptances?
For me I downloaded the PDF, filled out my information and then there’s an additional doc that you need to make that lists activities, plus a doc for an essay. I emailed all three of these docs to the Burnett Honors College email, as I was directed.
Son applied to BHC beginning of December and got his acceptance 8-9 days later.
Typically speaking, how difficult is it to get a merit scholarship? UCF doesn’t seem to have a set criterion (i.e. certain GPA or ACT) mentioned on the website, so I was wondering if anyone who was admitted in the past or has children who are admitted could share what stats they had and if they received merit.
Each year is based on the applicant pool but in the past it seems Pegasus Gold requires at at least a 1400+ SAT or ACT equivalent plus a stellar academic record. Provost seems to be 1450 at the bare minimum (but many more students are in the 1500 plus range that receive that award)for consideration and a stellar academic record as well. I’ve heard scholarship offers should be coming out in the next week.
Are these scholarships also avail for OOS?
From the website on Merit Scholarships:
OUT-OF-STATE AND OTHER TUITION WAIVERS
There are a number of waivers that the university offers that may apply to you. There are two waivers that the Office of Undergraduate Admissions administers: the Florida Grandparent Waiver and the Florida High School Graduate Out-of-State Tuition Waiver. Refer to the Forms Website to download these waivers and review requirements and instructions.
I am curious about this too! We are out of state and were wondering if UCF ever throws a little merit out to OOS, besides the official waivers that are detailed on the website. Good luck!
UCF offers oos merit scholarships ranging from $30,000 to $42,000 over 4 years.
Apparently merit scholarships have started to roll out
Based on past years it may take a couple of days for them to load
Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the info!
My daughter was awarded Silver Pegasus, I think that means $10k over 4 years, but I don’t know for sure. My son got Gold 2 years ago with same SAT and slightly less GPA then my daughter. His scholarship info was in his acceptance letter, so hopefully she will get a letter with confirmation.
Congratulations to your daughter! Historically it has been $10,000 over 4 years but this year’s amount hasn’t yet been stated by the University. Each year there are more applicants to UCF than the prior year so scholarships are getting more competitive so its not surprising similar stats just a few years apart are offered different scholarships.
is it safe to assume if you haven’t been notified you won’t be receiving merit?
Not necessarily. Merit for instate students started rolling out yesterday and oos parents are saying that they haven’t received anything yet.
Did you get an email alerting you or did you have to log into your portal?
Also congrats!!!
No I just saw on social media people commenting that the merit awards were posted in the portals under student self service and then To Do.
Pegasus Silver loaded in my portal Monday morning, so I assume they might be doing it along the course of a few days?
