I am a parent whose daughter (international) was deferred from EA and I received the email as well. As much I would love to believe otherwise. I doubt it means anything. UofC would likely not tip their hand like that.
@h8annah Do you think the e-mail means anything? I applied ED2 and was rejected, but I would like to see if anyone thinks that a college/university might give out an early notification of acceptance.
I will say that I personally don’t believe that the e-mail means anything. There are just too many people on here who got the e-mail after being deferred EA. The admit rate is around half of a percent for those deferred EA who go to RD, and there are few wait lists for EA applicants.
I got the email, but I doubt it means anything. However, I’m struggling to understand why they would send an email with such suggestive wording the day before decisions come out (and not even send it out to all applicants). Why not just wait a day and send it only to accepted students? It seems like a poor judgment call by someone in the admissions office. They’ve just invited speculation for no reason.
Adding to this speculation, my friend didn’t get a email and he applied RD as well. Just the wording of the email makes it extremely suggestive that it’s meant to be for a admitted student, but who knows.
