colleges love their twins! congrats to both of them!!!
True! so far my twins got into the same schools, deferred and waitlisted by the same schools and even received the same scholarships from the same schools!
I think Gap year only.
C24, Deferred EA, then rejected RD.
We knew it was a long shot. Congratulations to all of those who were accepted.
I hope you can write a summary after all settled, that will be helpful and interesting.
Thanks for that info. When do they call? Is it before April 1st? My d was just waitlisted.
From last yearâs thread in college confidential, someone sent it on april 4th and heard back April 5th. Sending earlier is better I think.
This is from year before. âHe did a regular LOCI when our S21 got on the waitlistâŠa few weeks later the admissions officer assigned to his area (not sure if it was Latin America or internationals) sent an email if he was still interested. He sent back an email that night saying if offered he would definitely go. She thanked him for the prompt replyâŠ2 or 3 days later he got an offer for admission.â
Waitlisted.
Honestly, I was expecting worse. I applied as a jr as a joke lmao
I would go if accepted tho/take the gap year offer
How much does a LOCI up your chances? Iâm writing one rn
Interesting, your twins are really impressive. I remember reading their stats awhile back. What is their top choice now or still waiting for Ivy day.
So you mean the student sent a LOCI on April 4th and heard from U Chicago on April 5th asking if they were ready to commit?
Yes! So from this I think sending letter earlier is better. Otherwise they may end up filling the class.
I think if you do it soon, the chance may be higher.
But make up your mind before you write the LOCI that it is your first choice.
Still waiting on a handful of schools, including the one their big brother is in. However, since late January, they have been super happy with what they got already.
Sending early may be helpful. But if they contact you before you hear from other schools, youâd be putting yourself in a tough position, and that essentially defeats the purpose of your earlier decision to apply RD.
You are absolutely correct! That is why I told him to make his mind up before writing LOCI that he will commit. Otherwise you will lose UChicago if you donât accept the offer on the spot. And if you do accept, you shouldnât regret later. But I think you can still change your mind as it is only verbal commitment. Not sure though.
Waitlisted.
We initially planned to apply EA, but S24 procrastinated so it ended up being a RD. As a hindsight this might not be a bad thing.
Iâm not sure thatâs what UChicago does just based on one anecdotal story. If it were before the Ivy Day though, it would be equivalent of the gym membership high pressure sales tactics.
But if it happens in April, itâs a fair game.
Not one. If you go back and read college confidential or reddit for UChicago for the last few years. Every year I see it happening. It happened for my D21 as well.
