@crazychic thanks for the words of encouragement. Good luck!

Rejected by Columbia and deferred by UChicago all in one week. Yeah, that’s how my life is going right now…

I got deferred… I don’t feel anything but now I have to work on apps during Christmas and new year’s day…

I was supposed to do stuff on New Years. I’m going to have to skip that now to work on apps.

My D got accepted with a merit-scholarship plus a financial aid. In my income level, I didn’t expect any financial aid. Although I still need to pay more than 40K/year if she decides to attend UChicago, what a wondeful news !!!

Same here. I did not expect any merit, and certainly not much, if any, financial aid. The offer really exceeded our expectations. Congrats!

Just found out from daughter that one of her classmates was also accepted. Certainly did not expect two kids from our average, California suburban HS to make it.

I got accepted! UChicago is definitely one of my top choices along with MIT :)

For all of us who got deferred, this is me: [The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy - Marvin - YouTube](<a href=“The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Marvin - YouTube”>The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Marvin - YouTube)

Straight reject! State school it is, I was really expecting much :(

Deferred :c Oh well, I know most people were. So.

Lol @EnoughNerve

I can’t help but think, “at least I didn’t receive a predicted rejection”. We still have a chance guys. Do all that you possibly can within these next few weeks and we can still make it!
Can’t let these RD applicants take our place!?!?!

I’m officially over it.

I was a bit sad at first, but I am fine now. Life goes on. **** happens, and I must recover from it. To my fellow deferred applicants, as well as to those denied, we now join the ranks of people like Warren Buffet and John Kerry as those who have been denied from universities. To those accepted, congratulations, and good luck at Chicago, and with your future endeavors.

In the words of Paul McCartney, “let it be”.

Deferred. Oh well. I’m almost ready to withdraw my app and just settle with my second choice because I see all the more qualified people who were also deferred…

hey everyone, do you guys still want to use this thread to hang out and talk? or is it too painful? i got deferred like most everyone, but i don’t especially want to cut off contact with all of you

@debater that’s how I feel!!! I honestly am not even that upset because getting into some of these top schools is like winning the lottery!

@ironchariot i’ll be hanging around! Not going to lie I think I’m more upset that some of you got deferred than that I got deferred. You’re all so awesome and qualified and while I’m extremely book-smart it doesn’t reflect in my interests or my persona as much. Most people actually call me a ditz most of the time lol.

@ita i’m sure you’re plenty smart! i think a crapton of qualified ppl got deferred

@ironchariot I’m just so sad for everyone here who did get deferred. And honestly my supplement essays were awesome (in my own opinion) and really showed who I am as a person and I have a high GPA and good test scores, I just think that myself, along with many others, were deferred by chance. It’s hard to pull a class of 1500 out of almost 12,000 equally qualified students and actually give everyone a fair shot.

i’m actually surprised i wasn’t just rejected
