UChicago EA Applicants 2018

@ironchariot lol why do you say that??

i have 2 total ec’s, zero leadership, and no awards beyond sectional level

@ironchariot I’m with you on the awards stuff. Keep your head up. You are more than a college admissions decision.

thanks ita. let’s talk about happy things. what’s your favorite thing about the holidays?

I have no leadership or awards either…I love the idea of keeping contact going on here though, you guys are supermegafoxyawesomehot (and I really hope I’m not the only starkid fan) :)

@nerve back at you. i’m not going to let my new friends go that easily, regardless of the d

Hi all! I just found this thread a couple of days ago. Like so many others, I was deferred. But this page has seriously made my day! It’s people like you that make UChicago amazing!

I know that I said this a page ago, but I really am okay with being deferred.

No matter how false it could be, there is still hope for all of us. There have been outright rejections, so a deferral is not tantamount to a rejection. We have a chance, and some of us will prevail. Just keep trudging forward. Accept what happens, and move on from it. This is merely an obstacle on the path to greatness that we all inevitably will follow.

Yeah I’ve gone from furious to weirdly happy. I feel like I’m on laughing gas at the dentist where my mood isn’t actually that positive, but for some reason I can’t stop smiling

i’m just resigned, not happy or sad or angry

Deferred. Seems like the norm around here. I’m with you ironchariot, just…resigned.

You young people are remarkable. Reading your posts literally brings tears to my eyes.

Huh… I guess I’m joining the “deferred” club. I’m in the same boat as you, ironchariot: no leadership positions, few ECs. Now that I think about it, it’s a miracle I didn’t get outright rejected. By the way, does anyone know the statistics for EA (number of applicants accepted, rejected, deferred, etc.)?

Does anyone know how many people got accepted/rejected/waitlisted?

@ironchariot (sorry if this is random for everyone else but I’m still keepin’ the mood light) My favorite thing about the holidays is undoubtedly the decorations. My mom loves decorating and it’s kinda become our most cherished family tradition to decorate the house for Christmas. Lights and trees everywhere! Yours?

@kaukana hoping those tears are good tears  cuz if not…0-0

I just remembered that Christmas is in a week.

Hopefully this will do a lot to lift the spirits of those who were deferred or denied.

@ita food definitely! the whole family cooks and eats together, mom and sister make desserts, dad and i sneak said desserts bc we’re ninjas

My favorite things about the holidays are undoubtedly the Christmas songs! My fav. is “Baby it’s cold outside”.

I have a small dilemma… I had planned on getting rejected and applying to Reed College ED 2, but it’s binding and decisions are released Feb. 15 (before Chicago’s), so if I get in, I’ll have to withdraw my app to Chicago…problem is, I’m still in love with Chicago.

ironchariot–Good tears for sure. I can relate to what you all are going through. And I am so impressed with the comments. I have no doubt you all will land somewhere great, whether it’s UChicago or elsewhere, then go on in life and accomplish wonderful things.
