heaves huge sigh of relief

(although who am i kidding, this sense of relief will evaporate as soon as i realize i get one of those two outcomes)

now I almost hope that I got a rejection letter. I think I will have no results during my lifetime. now more than 2hours has passed my account homepage still has nothing changed!

I think she’s obliged to say that.

I agree with ImmanuelKant here.

No, she could’ve just ignored us. I doubt the Chicago admissions office systematically makes its rejected applicants wait in torture. And if it does indeed do that, then I wouldn’t really be that disappointed if I find out I’ve been rejected.

I’m gonna agree with ImmanuelKant : /

yeah 2 hour wait…this is getting a little ridiculous…
at this point i don’t care if i’m rejected, i just want to know…

haha srrinath, I wouldn’t be disappointed either if I was right too!

I’m gonna take an hour long shower, and if the decision isn’t up by the time I get out, commit seppuku.

I’d be happy about this if I didn’t remember that UChicago admissions officers are apparently famous for being dubious about decisions (i.e. “we don’t know when decisions are coming out” and then releasing them hours later.) Admissions has a lot of doublespeak :|

Was able to log in, no decision still.

I don’t think there’s overload since in most cases I can log in , and very fast
but what does that help?

nothing , nothing changed!!
Now I sincerely hope to get a rejection letter! that’s better than nothing!

I doubt they sent out only the acceptances on purpose. Technical mistake and ensuing panic seems more likely.

I just logged into my account but all i get is just the regular “welcome to your chicago account” page. Where exactly do you see your decision?

First, they didn’t only send out acceptances. Rejections (at least several of them) were out in the first fifteen minutes or so.

Second, as I’ve stated the adcom maintains that there is no correlation, so let’s believe her for now.

Third, it could be that most people who’ve been deferred/rejected are not willing to come up here and post their stats.

Even if it ends up that the acceptances were sent out first, how are we ever going to verify it? If one person says they got in at, say, 6 PM, and many other people get rejected, we can’t really draw any conclusions.

The whole point is that rejections were indeed sent out with the earlier batches. So stop freaking out over that correlation. If they wanted to systemically send our acceptances first, it makes no sense that they sent bad news only to one or two applicants

It seems like everyone that had theirs delayed got deferred

just to be clear, does chicago reject any EA, or does everyone who isn’t accepted automatically deferred?

I think Grace said that Chicago does reject EA
