Uci acceptance

@jen
UCI generally gives the 3.0 all C or above conditions. I obviously want to go to Cal between all of them. Still waiting on USC but I really doubt I’d go there. Luckily my grades will be available before the June 1st deadline. I think I’m going to SIR to Cal and then if I get a C, SIR to UCR. And then if I do get accepted from the UCI waitlist, I’d go there over UCR.

I also am senior status with 92 transferable credits so I didn’t have many options. It’s such a ridiculous rule. I think that if you spend 2 years full time at a community college, then that shouldn’t even count.

@ drk
I’m waitlisted with about a 3.8x GPA for the past 3 years with all pre-reqs & recommended classes done for Bio. My GPA is brought down though to something between a 3.5-3.6 due to having some credits at a 4-yr.

don’t think so. Hearing why I got rejected would be too terrible for me to bear. I’m glad I got into Davis, but UCI was the UC I wanted to get into most because of its location and convenience.

@ killmyentourage can’t you appeal despite being on the waitlist?

@tillyzinha Psychology & Social Behavior. 2nd major: Sociology. Coming from a CC.

@killmyentourage Yikes sorry to hear that. I had some bad grades from my previous CCs - do they factor into the admissions process?

What are the honest chances of being accepted from waitlist? So we have to wait till 6/15? Also, can we appeal while we are on the waitlist?

appeal what? to UCI?

^^^ yes to uci

Well I got the big NAY so I guess I can submit my SIR to UCR now. I’m not even upset because Ive never imagined myself at a University so this is all a blessing to me. Good luck to you all.

sweetlacecharm, I got rejected from Davis, but not from Irvine, though I would rather go to Davis due to the convenience on my behalf.

Honestly, I’m pretty sure I was waitlisted due to space and the fact that I’m technically a senior (by 2 freaking credits) so I don’t get priority. Plus I applied to an impacted major and impacted alternate (Bioeng & Bio). I don’t think appealing would help anything in my case because they already know what I’m all about from my application and as long as I fill out the SIP, they’ll know I want to go there.

I was missing some pre-reqs for Bioeng so I figured I wouldn’t get in for it and that they would process me for my Bio alternate but my SIP says Bioengineering? Does anyone’s SIP say their alt major? Since I’m waitlisted, I don’t want to go there for Bioeng since I won’t be able to register for summer classes because of the waitlist and them being full. Which would lead to me having to go to school for 3 more years  Should I call admissions and try to change the major on my SIP? Any thoughts?

Rejected :'(

REJECTEDD

this is sooo annoyingg!!..made us wait sooo long for a damn NOO!!
aghhhhhh

@koko

I had a 2.9. I know not great…I had a 2.0 my first semester and then took a few years off and was able to raise it only that much when I returned.

I thought working 2 jobs so I could afford to go to college and support myself would count for something, but apparently not. I didn’t apply to any state schools… But I wish I would of:(

Does anyone know if SDSU takes winter/spring applicants?

i got accepted from ucsb, ucd, ucsc, and ucr. however my first choice is uci.

gpa 3.86.

I just checked my EEE. and FINALLY see something from UCI…

I encourage you to check on uci website instead of waiting for their Email.

Admission Decision
sp
Waitlist for UC Irvine Fall 2011 Transfer Class

Thank you for applying to the University of California, Irvine. Due to limited capacity for transfer students, we are not currently able to offer you admission for fall 2011.

However, your application is strong, and as a result we want to provide you the opportunity to be included on a transfer student waitlist for UC Irvine. As a waitlist participant you will be notified by June 15, 2011 of your admission status. At the same time, we caution you to not miss the deadlines at other colleges/universities while waiting to receive our waitlist decision.

If you would like to place your name on the waitlist, please confirm your interest by completing a Statement of Intent to Participate (SIP) no later than 05/15/2011. The SIP is available by clicking on the button below.

If a space for fall 2011 does not become available and attending UC Irvine remains your ambition, we encourage you to continue with your studies and, if possible, consider applying for a future term. Because UC Irvine is highly selective at the transfer level, we recommend you establish a strong academic record above minimum eligibility.

Again, thank you for your interest in UC Irvine. We wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.

Your deadline is 05/15/2011 to:
Submit your Statement of Intent to Participate

Waitlisted sigh…
Anyone know what are the chances of attending?

Just got the status change email… Now I’m nervous to check

just check it! so you can get over it!

still pending

(have 4 year university units)

Hey guys, after lurking around this thread, I thought I’d make an account and share your pain.
Got waitlisted today  I dont know whether to be happy or sad.
ugh.
Stats:
GPA: 3.17, (3.36 without this stupid chem class i took years ago that affects my gpa)
Major: Philosophy
CC-UC
95+ units completed

What are the chances we’ll get accepted? I’m assuming most people will SIR to places like ucla and leave more open slots for us waitlisted. Do they accept waitlisted students according to major, or just generally?

Is this the first year that UCI has a waitlist for transfers?

I just suggested to all my friends on facebook to decline their UCI admission if they’re not going there anyway :)
