UCI Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

I can’t handle all this uncertainty! :-S

Okay hey guys, I’ve been creeping on this for months and finally broke down and made an account. Still waiting from UCI here and about to explode. I’m an english major and missing a few pre-reqs so I’m quite worried.

So I got accepted into a cal state my deadline is May 1 to pay the deposit. If I submit my deposit to that school, will UCI see that and reject me automatically

I only applied to UCi from the UC because it’s the only one that offers criminology

@deathbywaiting I, too, am an English major anxiously awaiting an answer. I am missing my math pre-req so needless to say, not feeling hopeful.

Welp, just checked and I was waitlisted. No idea what I should do seeing as other UC’s need you to SIR by the 1st of June when you aren’t told about your wait list decision by the 30th. Do they not want me to attend anywhere? jeez

Guys! I was waitlisted! My GPA kinda sucked so there’s hope for everyone.

Oh my goodness I haven’t even gotten a wait list notification! UCI just needs to stop beating around the bush already and tell me I’m not accepted

Waitlisted for criminology as expected

I got waitlisted as well… Looks like that seems to be the case today

Still nothing as a comp sci major, guess that’s a rejection then?

Did anyone that got waitlisted also TAG? I TAG’d but haven’t heard anything from them yet

So do people that waitlist have to write another essay?

I got waitlisted. Business admin 3.7 gpa.
What do u do now??? Can i submit both an SIP at UCI and an SIR at another UC???

@JccX17 that’s tough. you have a good gpa

got wait listed as well for comp sci.

did anyone on the wait-list get a request for sending in a transcript? It was the case last year, I don’t see it on mine.

Not to be rude to those were waitlisted( waitlisted also) but why are people waitlisted? Did the campus consider your application to be good enough but just can’t accommodate you because of limited space? I feel that the waitlist message on the portal where it mentions “however, your application is strong” is just a nice way of saying something else.

@BackNSchool83 Dude, you and I have pretty much the same story. I came back to school 3 years ago after bombing out of Cal Poly, Pomona and 3 community colleges all while struggling with addiction/alcoholism throughout my 20’s. I got clean and sober in June 2012, enrolled in CC, and have been working my ass off to get to where I want to be. I have a 4.0 at my current CC, got academic renewal for 2 of my failed CC’s, but Cal Poly still haunts me. Those grades alone brought my 4.0 current GPA down to a 3.2 overall. But there is hope! As you know, we are powerless over the decisions of these colleges, all we can do is give our best, do our part, and then it’s out of our hands. I got accepted into UCSC (my dream school! SIRed last night), and got denied by UCLA and CAL. These rejections were tough for my ego to swallow, but ultimately, I feel blessed to be where I’m at after being so close to oblivion less than 3 years ago. Your hard work will pay off, just make sure to keep your expectations in check. Failed expectations are a recipe for disaster, and as a fellow alcoholic in recovery, I know how dangerous that can be. Best of luck friend!

I truly believe it’s a nice way to reject someone but at the same time colleges have an advantage in wait listing people because they have nothing to lose. And if by any chance they have space and need more people (because others given admission didn’t SIR) they have us on the wait list to fill up their cap.
