@808life @Alfendi @seafoodude wow they started accepting people off the waitlist already?? What GPA did you guys have ??
@CancelOut I don’t know, to be honest. I’ve attended several schools before UCI, so it’s messed up. What I can tell you is that it’s definitely not up there. Around 3.0~3.5.
@Alfendi congrats by the way. It’s very odd they’ve started accepting people already. I always assumed it was after June 1st to see how many SIRs… I hope today wasn’t the only day…
@futurezotter to me it seems like a good sign. Mines still has the purple banners for appeal received.
@CancelOut Thanks! And yeah, I was completely weirded out. I was browsing the previous two years and most of them were notified early June to as late as mid June.
@Alfendi what was your major and did you complete all the required pre reqs?
@CancelOut My major is Criminology, Law, and Society. I did complete all pre-requisites, though I did read it wasn’t necessary to do when transferring.
I have IGETC done though.
@CancelOut It was good sign! I got in! I’m not sure if it was solely because of the waitlist or if my appeal helped. Welp, best of luck to you and everyone who is appealing or is on the waitlist!
@futurezotter Wow you got in just now? Do you think how waitlisters are hearing back so early even before the SIR date is over for transfers means that UCI hasn’t reached their enrollment goals? Meaning a good sign for waitlisters?

@CancelOut Yep, That thing where the purple appeal banner disappeared happened then a few hours later the whole page on my portal changed to the “You have been admitted” banner. I think it would be sensible to assume that the reason some waitlisters are hearing back early is because their enrollment goals haven’t been reached; maybe they’re just assuming that since the deadline is so close it’s a good time to start going through the waitlist assuming that the amount of SIRs received won’t exceed the amount (by too much) that was submitted in the past few weeks. So all in all it maybe is a good sign for waitlisters. Hopefully that includes you!
On my appeal I basically just wrote about my family background, some struggles I experienced during my high school and community college career (family member getting sick, etc) and how i plan to achieve success in UCI despite my struggles. I also continued to write about my academic and career goals and why UCI is the school for me and also what I can contribute to the UCI community.
TBH, I’m not really sure if my appeal was really a factor in my admission. It’s possible I got in solely through the waitlist. I’m assuming this because I sent in my appeal at the very last minute which was just barely last week haha. But then again it is possible that mine was read before some of the others and it did help me get of the waitlist.

I sent my appeal in 2 days before the postmark deadline of May 15 so it was last minute as well. It does look good for waitlisters if they’re accepting early but we’ll see.

GPA: cumulative I think 3.24 (calculated myself since I have attended 3 different CC) even though past three semesters is 3.67
IGETC: Completed
Major Courses: Completed all
Accepted: ucsc, uci
Waitlisted: ucd, ucsd
rejected: ucla
I think I got in because of what I wrote in my appeal letter and that I been doing well in the past few semesters.

so I’m assuming most people that were accepted friday wrote appeals?
