Which school out of UCL and BU should I choose for undergraduate economics? Which school is more prestigious worldwide, especially in east Asia and Europe? If I want to transfer to a top US college in my sophomore year, which school will give me a better chance of getting admitted? If I decide not to transfer to another college, which degree will help me get into a top business school or a masters program or get a good job?
- Are we assuming that you can afford both equally well? That you like the courses equally well?
- Prestige is in the eye of the beholder. UCL is ranked higher than BU, but that doesn't always affect how people in any given region view the school
- Transferring to top schools (that would be the one that got away this time?) is typically much harder than applying as a first year. If you move from the UK to the US you will probably have to do some 1st year GenEd courses in 2nd year, but for either school how you do will matter more than which one.
- They aren't that different in terms of what you can do afterward. You should be able to get good internships and recs from either.
