UCL STS help

Help!

I received an email from University College London regarding my application. It informed me that I was rejected from the philosophy program there but they invited me to apply to the STS program under one of two degrees: Science and History or History and Philosophy of Science.

I was just wondering what people new about the program etc. The info is scarce and I just want to know which is more worth to apply to and which was more competitive…

Thanks

Hi there,

I work in the department of STS - this message was flagged by my google alerts, so I hope I can help.

STS covers a range of topics in the area of Science and Technology Studies, such as Science Communication, Science Policy, History and Philosophy of Science. We look at how science shapes the world, and how the world views science. So, for example, you might learn about how science has changed from the ancient greeks, through the middle ages, up to the current day. You might look at how we’re adapting to new technologies, how governments choose to fund different scientific approaches, or how medicine has used science differently over the years.

The two courses (Science and Society, and History & Philosophy of Science) share the same first year, so you can try modules in both areas and decide during that first year what you’d like to focus on.

If you’d like to find out more:
