UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

Anyone know if there is a way to check which den basketball package you have officially? On myucla I’m part of the group “UCLA Blue Den Basketball” or something like that but I should actually have Blue&Gold not just blue, and I want to make sure that is correct.

I wanted to change lectures for a class, but I saw that a Dis. session for the time slot I wanted had 9 out of 26 people and was closed.

Does this mean that that discussion is canceled for good?

^ You could try talking to the department that that is in and ask what’s up. (I did that for 3 classes, each a different department).

About Covel Tutoring, do we have to fill out a survey online again even if we already did one for fall quarter? If we do, where is it? (I forgot where I filled it out. I’m search MyUCLA and can’t find it.)

^ I attempted to, and the person in charge of that stuff wasn’t there today. Tomorrow I guess. What were the cases in your experience?

Yeah, you have to fill another out because this time you’re requesting different classes. Check the notices from MyUCLA

Math department: Took care of problem.
Physics department: The classes are full. We will not overenroll or extend the waitlist. If I drop out of my physics class to try for a different lecture or section on the waitlist, I’m on my own. (Though talked with professor and TA and they say unless the classes are unbalanced, I can just attend a different section. It’s probably too late to try for a different lecture because I can’t attend the other lectures due to schedule conflicts…)
Chem depart: “We don’t handle that anymore.” Now I have to go to all these different lab sections and pray someone drops and that the waitlist is empty.

I didn’t get any notice from MyUCLA. D: Is there some link you can send me?

Try clicking the survey icon on the top right of myUCLA.

Is there any way to search for classes by professor instead of subject matter? Like if we preferred a certain prof for any given quarter can you search what he will be teaching?

that professor’s website might say. Some departments are also good about putting up their schedule and you could use ctrl+f to find them.

^^ If you’re looking for anything in the math department, try this link:
[UCLA Department of Mathematics](<a href=“Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics”>Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics)

For other departments, you could try search their sites or maybe just ask the professor.

Other than that… I don’t know. You could just try asking them.

BTW, if anyone’s curious, the reason why I can’t access surveys is because I’ve been deemed “ineligible”. -__- Currently getting that straighten out, though I get a distinct feeling I’m screwed.

Why does it take multiple attempts to sign in to UCLA mail every time? Such a pain…

Anybody got/know a good Chem 20B TA? (I don’t care which lecture.) I’ve been to two different discussions, and they just mainly did problems on the board. Is there one that goes into concepts or more in depth than the professor? (Discussion section/TA name please? xD )

You should try forwarding all your UCLA emails to a gmail account.

For the UCLA Amgen Scholarship application, is that okay if you go over the character limit by like… 20 characters?!

The character limits are killing me -_-

^

pretty sure you can somehow eliminate 20 characters…

^I can’t - I already cut it down a lot. But, I emailed them and they said that it was fine.

For summer school, are there different enrollment times for the different sessions? I’m enrolling in a couple of classes, and it tells me that I have a time conflict even though the classes are in different sessions. Am I supposed to enroll only for Session A today?

I have sophomore standing but I’m a first year biochem major. I’m thinking about taking chem 30A, math 32A, and either LS2 or chem 30AL. Given the competitiveness of LS2 and the difficulty of chem 30AL, would it be risky if I tired getting LS2 and math 32A on my first pass then chem 30A on second pass? Or perhaps doing LS2 and chem 30A for first pass and math 32A for second pass? I’m looking to take math 32A with a specific professor, so 180 spots doesn’t seem very hopeful.

If I got a 5 on AP Stat, would it be too difficult to do well in Stat 12 if I missed half of every lecture (time conflict). Assuming the midterms/final don’t conflict.

Shouldn’t be too bad… I never really paid attention in my Stats 13 class over the summer and still got the A+… It was much easier than my AP Stats class.

Anyone know where to pick up math finals from last quarter? I emailed my Prof but he didn’t respond.
