The book is all right for reference for the online Thinkwell quizzes. Other than that, it’s useless for Scerri’s class. I did pretty well in his class despite not touching the book after the first couple weeks.

2) Not sure about Library Reserves for this book, but I know that getting engineering books is generally really easy.

3) It was $35 or so last year. I wish Scerri would at least type his notes - they’re just scans of his handwritten transparencies.

yes, in the locker rooms. costs 50 cents (i think you have to bring money to get the tokens for the lockers, iirc)

definitely doable

15 should be more than enough, you can probably be more than fine with 10. the cable spot is in the middle of the side walls (in plazas at least)

do you mean with the doors open? or just generally? either way i’d say yes, but it depends on who’s around you and how you typically treat your things. but that’s just me.

i’m not good to answer this one, i bring pretty much my whole closet

Sorry…I know this was answered some time ago. Moving in on the 19th. Meal plan doesn’t start until Sunday, right? Do we use Bruin card or cash until then? Are the dining halls, like Covel, open and just taking cash/Bruincards?

Does anybody know what type of calculators are permitted for math 31A? I’m pretty sure full fledged graphing calculators are not allowed, right?

Yes, you may carry anything with you if you wish. There are lockers as well that you have to purchase. You may put your possessions in public cubicles, but risk theft, so keep valuable possessions in your room or take them with you if you choose to place them there.

I would say bring enough for about 3 weeks, and clothing for certain weather.

just make sure your tops are diverse . . . dressshirts polos… as opposed to actual t-shirts…
and dont forget to bring a suit for those… professional- like occasions…
formal attire is more appropriate if youre in a frat or soror since they have those events a lot …

How exactly do intramural sports work? Do you have to have a team in order to play, or can you just show up and join a random group? Also, on the UCLA Recreation website, there are only a few sports listed…are those the only ones available?

My move-in date is Saturday in the afternoon, so I’m going to be driving down to UCLA from the Bay Area. I’m probably going to leave sometime on Friday just to be safe. How is the traffic in LA? Should I take highway 5 or highway 101? What time on Friday should I leave (approximately)? Thanks.

I’m oos but after taking the 101 up to the bay area to see my family, I would highly recommend taking the 5. There seems to be constant traffic on both, but when I took the five (a few months back) it was much faster.
