UCLA Bar - for those questions that take less than 5 posts to answer...

Tumtum: We live in the Bay Area and will be driving to LA on Thurs. We used to live in LA so we have done the drive alot. 101 is scenic but very, very slow. If you go that way I would suggest pending the night somewhere on the way. Interstate 5 though boring is very fast. It takes us exactly 7 hours to get to LA. We live about one hour north of SF so if you are closer to SF or south of it it may take you less time. Take the 580 east over to the 5 and head south! Then merge onto the 405 as you approach the LA area since UCLA is just off the 405 freeway. BTW traffic in LA is horrific. Do your best to avoid 7-10 am and 2-7pm freeway driving. We plan to leave the Bay Area around 6:00 am to get us into LA around 1-2pm.

Yeah, I’m in San Jose - 5.5 hours to LA - we usually leave between 6-8AM so that we never hit LA rush hour.

Oh, damn…I just tried to order books for pickup online, and it turns out the deadline for that was 7AM today. Why couldn’t they, I don’t know, actually post the deadline in a visible place BEFORE the deadline passed?! Ahh…

I’m coming in from out-of-state, so I can’t have them shipped…should I just try to get them in person? Will the store be packed? Will they even have my books?

voracious reading . . … . …

■■■■. I forgot as well.

Don’t worry, it’s fine, just try to get there early.

Also, there’s a store in Westwood called Textbooks Plus that might have more common textbooks for cheaper (but not by much).

Are there locks on the closets in the dorms (specifically in hedrick hall)?

Are there walls in the showers or is it open like the typical highschool showers?

Where is a good place to cut your toenails? The bathroom? Dormroom? Outside?

I think there’s holes you can put a lock through. i.e. bring your own lock

walls, thank god. think bathroom stalls except instead of toilets, there are showers.

ahahahahhaha. I’ve never seen that question asked.

Thank you so much.

So about that last question, anybody have a good answer?

^ um… I didn’t know that was a private activity lol - i just cut them in my room…

no one has answered my question…

anyone else not get financial aid disbursed in their bar account?

you dont have loans with MPNs that arent signed?

I still haven’t recieved the remainder of my financial aid through BruinDirect. Should I be concerned?

whats MPN?

I havn’t received any yet :(

Thanks for responding to me.

master promissory note(s)
are you a first time borrower?

yup first time borrower, im a transfer student.

im pretty sure i did the electronic signing

theres more than the electronic signing. if youre a first time borrower, you have some paperwork to complete. call financial aid tomorrow and see if you must - as a first time borrower, i had several MPNs to take care of before i got disbursements.

On average, about how many kids in chem 14a have already taken AP chem in High School? I’ve never taken chem so I’m really worried…
