I think Spring Sing will be around 3 hours long. My floor mate is one of the performers, and he said all the comedy acts make it that long.

Is it feasible to have a desktop computer instead of a laptop living on campus?

It works just fine. Less convenient, but sufficient.

Can international students doing EE get internships for the summer?

go for a laptop, esp if youre a north campus major… im pretty much a slave to my laptop in lecture

I’m more of a desktop fan, i’ll be a south campus major tho.

That’s fine, then. I never take my laptop anywhere, except to study with other people. And in that case, I won’t let myself have wireless anyway. It really doesn’t help with South Campus materials anyway. Do invest in a decent printer, though.

o ok but i thought they had some printers in the libraries and all

lol invest in a small laser printer. you DONT wanna run around all the time just to print stuff.

i didn’t have access to my personal printer for 2 weeks (no ink) so i had to depend on the seaslab printers in boelter.

they always had problems with the printers. it was either out of toner, jammed, or had some other malfunction. it’s not good to find out 10 minutes before class that the printer is broken and you need to turn in your 20 page lab report.

I agree, BUY A PRINTER. Constantly running to the library to print stuff is a pain in the butt. You get $5 of free print credit at the labs near the dorms, and I think certain departments have labs where students within the department can print for free, but if you’re just going to use the printers in the library it costs 10 cents a page, and it adds up (plus you’ll have to wait in line, which can be a problem if you’re calling it too close)

thanks for the heads up! :)

For Management 1A, the general catalog says “Not open to Freshmen”

Is this restriction based on units a student has or just not open to all students who are 1st years at the university?

I am asking because I want to MGMT1A starting fall (I am a freshman with over 90 quarter units), but I don’t know if I will be allowed to.

Anyone know the answer to this?

I took Spanish 1 and 2 at a community college, then took Spanish 3 at UCLA. Can I still take the Spanish Placement Exam to test out of Spanish 6? I need 2 years of a foreign language for my major, and I’d rather try and test out of level 6 instead of taking Spanish 4 and 5.

@confidentiality,
course restrictions are usually done by units (so a class that is only open to juniors and seniors could be taken by a soph with junior standing). which would mean that you probably would not be barred from the class, EXCEPT…

for fall 2009, all returning students will have enrolled in their classes in june. faaar before new students. so if 1A is filled, it’s filled.

I see. Thank you liyana.

Is MGMT 1A a popular class? Does is it fill up easily?

And starting winter quarter, I will be able to enroll in classes same time juniors are able to right?

Also another question

If I plan to take CCC classes during the summer before Fall quarter 2009, do I have to get UCLA’s approval? Can I just take the classes and send the transcript to UCLA?

you just take it and send transcripts. dont need approval i think. go to assist.org to see which classes replace what.

So if psychology considered a north campus major or south? Someone told me it was south, but then a tour guide just considered it the lone child.

^^^ I was wondering about this too. What about psychobiology?
