sweet there we go

i’m applying to med school and i want to get in all my stuff as soon as i can. Does anyone know when’s the earliest time the spring quarter grades will show up on my official transcript? the registar website says that the spring grades will show up on ursa on june 24th. does that mean that’s when it will show up on my transcript?

Or does anyone know the contact info for the registar office so I can ask them? where in murphy hall is the office located?

how successful are CAR’s usually, and do they notify you by email or snail mail?

bump…

hey where can u fill up water bottles with drinking water at UCLA

just bring a water filter. trust me, im an engineer.

If I’m thinking of taking a class during the summer (incoming freshman) can I apply for financial aid first to see how much it would cost?

How do letters of recs from your professors work? Any particular experiences? I’m thinking of askiog a particular one soon but not sure on how to handle it (i.e. what official documents I need, how to discreetly introduce the letter of rec). Btw, I’ve talked to the professor a couple times before about school and life in general, so it’s not a total washout. Any help appreciated.

So I’m an out of stater who received this scholarship application, and it said they would require 2 letters of recommendation (one from at least a teacher/guidance counselor).

Is it ok to use the same teachers/guidance counselor for your college recs as the scholarship app? And also, is the admissions committee for this scholarship the same as for the college?

I would like to know this, too.

I decided to apply anyway. We’ll see what happens, especially since the priority deadline has already passed.

Generally, you should have taken a class with him/her or work in his/her lab. I know some professors have policies on writing recs - one is you need at least an A- in the class taken with the professor (though this is not a uniform policy).

YOU are responsible for handing the document to the professor (electronically or in paper). You should also send in your CV/Resume, so they can reference anything they don’t know about you. I recommend talking to him/her about the procedures, just straight up. If you don’t have the confidence to do this, then this person probably isn’t the best person to write a rec. No need to be indirect. Also be proactive about reminding the professor when the letter is due. They are busy and you don’t want to miss your deadline.

How long do you guys think it will take the 1:30 or 2:00 PM flyaway to get to LAX tomorrow (the Friday before Memorial Day weekend)? And are the airport lines likely to be insane?

I have a 5:15 flight on Southwest, and I get out of class at 12:50.

nanadaru77,

the committees are totally different. you could even use your UC application essay if you wanted to.

either of those two flyaways ought to be fine. let’s say it takes an hour max, you’re still ok. and if you aren’t checking a bag it’ll go faster.

i’d say you’re definitely good if you get on by 2 :)

^ I thought you were dead. :(

sorry to disappoint! :D

^ tell mme-lin i miss her dearly

Im an incoming freshman wanting to check up on the status of my BruinCard. I sent it in almost 2 months ago but haven’t received anything in the mail. I was told to check on MyUCLA but didnt see a link anywhere nor could I view it on the Admissions Profile (highlight reel thing) on MyUCLA.

How do I know if I got one or not?

^ I have the same question.
