They send it two weeks before your orientation date.

^ We know that. We want to know where on the MyUCLA site can we check to see the status of our BruinCard application (like if they our application in the mail and stuff). Someone called us and told us we could check the status on the MyUCLA site but we cannot find a link to this place on the site.

^ have you tried clicking all the links?

I called on Bruin Card people last week, the girl said there will be a little box (ribbon) on the top of your admission page, were the separate orientation and admission button (picture thingy) is that will tell you about the Bruin Card stuff you sent in when they have them available. She said you pick it up at Orientation. There seems to be a lot of conflicting info both on the UCLA websites and on this forum. S goes to UCLA, and this is typical.

I called and was told the status link for the Bruin card would be available June 15.

anybody here have a date (or link, because I can’t find one) as to when the 09-10 eFAN’s gonna come out (or anything for that matter)? I hate this money crap.

Thanks by the way, BH, for the resp. I totally missed that when this thread got bumped down.

ohai guise
has anything interesting happened on this board in the last 5-6 weeks or so?

So I just logged onto MyUCLA to check if they got my transcripts and stuff and usually it goes straight to Admissions page when I logon. It went to notices and says something I don’t get… I’m wondering if you could help me out. This is what it says (copied and pasted)

"Notice 1 of 3
PTE
EE BIOL 97X - PATHWAYS IN SCIENCE6/29/2009
Your instructor has given you permission to enroll in EE BIOL 97X LEC 1 (128-291-200) for Fall 2009.

T 1:00 PM-1:50 PM ROYCE 362

PTE #09073 for enrollment on URSA "

Anyone know what this means and if I should do anything because of it?

Do you think they’ll open up another section for LS2? -__-;;

nodnarb did you petition to enroll in that course? that course has an enrollment restriction where you have to first send an email to that professor or department counselor before you can get into the class. if you wanted to get into the class, they gave you the pte number in order to be able to sign up for the class through ursa. if you have no clue what they are talking about, they probably sent the information to the wrong person and you can ignore it

i just looked up that class. Are you a part of PEERS? looks like they want people in PEERS to enroll in that class. sounds like a nice 1 unit pass/no pass research introducing support group class

if you want to enroll, do what you would normally do to sign up for classes, but it should say theres an enrollment restriction when you try to go all the way through and it’ll ask for a pte number which you can put yours in to enroll

^ wow thank you so much!

No i didn’t petition to enroll in that course but I am a part of PEERS. So i guess that is why.
I guess I’ll need to enroll in it -
Thanks again!

Another question:
+==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

So If I have a motorcycle, can I get free parking, or at least guaranteed paid parking at UCLA?

^ nvm I found the answer on my own finally. Motorcycles/scooters can park free in certain places at UCLA. Good news!

What does the workload for fiat lux classes generally consist of?

it could vary, but it’s usually a one page paper or something for the entire quarter… or a mini project… it’s only 1 unit, so not that much work at all…

i took a fiat lux first quarter which was based purely on attendance. i stopped going after the 2nd week. turns out the teacher was absent the last day of class so she ended up passing everyone.

lol I see. Does it really matter if you don’t pass?

The only way you can’t pass is if you don’t any work or don’t show up. Usually, there will be a final assignment which you have to do, or else you don’t pass (usually quite simple).

Does it matter if you don’t pass? It’s up to you to judge how important a NP is on your transcript, though it doesn’t affect GPA.

I’m a transfer to UCLA and am enrolled in Math 33a, 33b, and Physics 1C for fall quarter. I’m a little apprehensive about taking two math courses. Is it doable to take 33a/33b concurrently, or should I take them separately? At orientation they kept telling us to take it easy for our first quarter.
I’m on the wait list for Math 33a, 4th in line. How likely am I to get in to the class? Do I still go to class even if I’m still on the waiting list when the quarter begins?

Just in case you’re curious, these are my professors -

Math 33A - SHLYAKHTENKO, D.Y.
Math 33B - DAI, S.
Physics 1C - ZOCCHI, G.
