For the UC system, I only applied to UCLA, but according to this website (http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/california-residents/admissions-index/) I am in the top 9%. Will I still be offered admission at another UC school, even though I didn’t apply?
Got the engineering likely. 2240 34 4.0 770 M2 750 Bio . hopefully this means good news for Friday.
@zoomhex yes you will, although it will probably be merced or riverside. I am not aware of any of the other schools taking top 9% but there is most likely a small chance of that happening
I was rejected to ucsb. Might appeal though. Even more anxious now. My older sister tells me I need to stop going on this website because it makes it worse! Lol
@trackgirl916 so true… good lord it’s awful sometimes. in reality nothing anybody says here will have any bearing on our admissions decisions, but it’s nice to come together as a community of people all experiencing the same excruciating wait D: ucla is my first choice, but we should all remember that the acceptance rate dropped almost 5% this year, apps skyrocketed (112,000 is utterly ridiculous) and our reasons for being accepted/rejected may have very little to do with who we are as applicants. someone perfect for the school may be rejected due to the sheer volume of apps and how quickly ucla admissions probably had to go through all of them just to release decisions on time. it’s unfortunate, but also comforting to know that a rejection may not be due to something we lack as applicants.
@erinb0731 true, that number is huge and the acceptance rate is just a downer! Each and everyone of us will need as much as luck as we can get. I got into UCSD and UCSB, waiting for UCLA and UCB. The wait is killing me.
@Digitallyshrewd congrats! Only applied to SB and LA, but I got into SB (Undeclared L&S Honors Program). What majors did you apply for at SD and SB?
@erinb0731 very true… Let’s hope it’s in God’s plans to admit is to at least one of our top choices
P.S. thanks to everyone on here for being so nice and supportive. I don’t feel like people who got into certain places are bragging and I appreciate that
@erinb0731 Engineering and Economics! Got into economics for both! Got 5 more decisions and 4 of them are dreams so I’m pretty excited and nervous at the same time. Where else have you applied to?
What other 5 schools are you waiting on?
@Digitallyshrewd Nice! Well if you’ve got that many dream schools it sounds like you’re definitely gonna end up somewhere you really want to be! So far, accepted to Santa Clara, LMU, and UCSB, deferred from Boston College and Northeastern, waitlisted at UChicago, and waiting on UCLA, USC, Chapman, and BU. How about you?
@StevenToCollege UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC, UMich (Dreams) and UW-Madison
@erinb0731 I hope so, I’ve been accepted to SB, SD and the University of Denver so far. UChicago is amazing, hope you get in and the same for UCLA
Thank you so much! That really made me feel better!!
I really hope I get in! Also, does UCLA send random school emails out to be everyone? I’ve been receiving quite a few emails, not sure if that means anything!!
Has anyone ever heard of an OOS student getting in with low SAT scores? My GPA, extracurriculars and essays were really good, but I’m scared my test scores will hinder me getting accepted
My public high school in New York State (just over 1000 students) has had a handful of UCLA applicants every year for the last five or six years. I checked our Naviance system and the lowest acceptances so far have been 1110/1600 1690/2400 SAT, and 26 ACT. Students with higher standardized scores have been rejected, though.
@nylily17 Thanks that was reassuring!
UCLA is the dream [-O< Although I fear I won’t be one of those exceptions
Were you looking at the graph in Naviance? It can be tricky. Those admits with lower SATs might be from years ago, while the rejections with higher scores might be from more recent. My son’s Accept %s in Naviance for UCLA and UCB actually dropped comparing to two years ago.
More likely are student athletes rather than old stats accounting for the lower stats. Don’t forget it’s a division 1 school.
Hay guys, you seem to be very good at this stuff. Can you please chance me
I applied to the college of Letters and Sciences, Biology to UCLA and Berkeley. I got wait listed at UCSD, accepted to UCSB, and straight up rejected from UC Davis.
SAT : 2110
Unweighted GPA : 3.75
UC GPA : 4.25
The thing that is astonishing to me is that I’ve been president of speech and debate for 3 years, started a non-profit (President) organization that tutors orphans in India for 3 years (have been recognized by Times of India), Treasurer of Biology Club, Historian of Leo Club both for the last 3 years, FBLA for the last 4 years, CSF, and volunteered at the local Alzheimer’s Center since the 7th grade. My first essay was about losing my best friend in a car crash my junior year and how it affected me as a person and my grades. My second esssay was about a clinic I held in India for the children apart of my non profit organization. Also I am a tutor at Mathnasium for the last 2 years. Can someone tell me if I have any chance at UCLA and berk? I’m disheartened from getting straight up rejected from davis and waitlisted at SD. I really think I don’t deserve ucsb. Thank you all
Why so negative? What’s wrong with UCSB?
