***UCLA CLASS OF 2019 APPLICANT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Exactly four and a half days to go! I doubt I’ll be accepted, but we’ll see. Only 30 freshmen get in to their film program…

@FilmMaker1‌ Woah, sounds intense! Good luck dude

@PhoenixGirl Some of the applicants from the pool applying to the Engineering School get letters a little bit ahead of the deadline essentially telling them that they’ve been accepted; it doesn’t mean that if you didn’t get one that you’re not in considering how few of those actually accepted receive one

Thank you, @TanTheeeta‌! I’ve been accepted to the other UC (Santa Cruz) I applied to, and I know it is much less competitive, but perhaps it’s a sign I have a chance haha. I’m also an out of stater, so I think that works in my favor. Good luck to you as well

I applied as math as my intended major, but I really want to do Computer Science too. Is it easy to do an internal transfer or double major? I fear the uncertainty. I don’t know whether I should risk not getting into the computer science major at UCLA. I already got in Computer Science at UT Austin.

Has a UCLA Regents Applicant ever been rejected?

anyone rejected from UCSD ?

Do you think being accepted/rejected from SB will have any bearing on my UCLA decision? I only applied to those two, and I feel like they wouldn’t admit me to both. I do qualify for ELC though (so basically if I don’t get into any campus I applied to they offer me admission to one UC - probably Merced). Thoughts?

No, the descision of one UC in no way reflects the descision of another. They work seperately and do not discuss applicants between each other. You could get rejeted from every UC and get into UCLA or UCB

@erinb0731‌ Of course they would accept you to both! My D was just accepted to both UCSB and UCLA (due to the “likely letter”) and is hoping for Berkeley as well, oh and Riverside. The UCs don’t all get together and only admit you to one of your choices, they each look at the student individually and accept on their own parameters. If you are ELC then they HAVE to guarantee you one acceptance…and you’re probably right, Merced or Riverside are usually the ones.

@JHuff11 It would be interesting if the applicants on here that received an email and a call were all admitted, lol. I’m not sure that’s an indication of much…

@thebingbong - Don’t want to be a downer, but not easy to double major (unless you have 7 years) and getting into CS can be a big challenge, even harder if not admitted to engineering to begin with. Not impossible but not easy, it would be a risk. As an instate person that has a student majoring in CS, they would only go to a UC in their intended major, fwiw. Please talk to admissions to confirm. But UT is an amazing school. If CS is the most important part of your decision then I would seriously consider other options.

Any chance I get in for pre-Econ? Stats are 3.93/4.29 GPA, 2300 SAT. Good EC and lots of volunteer hours with nonprofit. 1 amazing essay and 1 good. Thoughts?? I’m super nervous and UCLA is my 1st choice!

just checked out most freshmen decisions will be available on the evening of 20 th !

@SDcard

You should get in with that stats.
With such good stats, what other schools did you apply to?

@StevenToCollege‌ Thanks for the feedback! I applied to most UCs, UT Austin, Brown, and a few others!

Really nervous. First school to be rejected to was UCSB so now no hope for UCLA. Out of stater that applied undecided with a 3.8. & only an average SAT score which is my weakness. But have 6 AP’s and a lot of volunteer work and extracurriculars. One of my essays was really good, the other pretty good. On my personal statement I listed 10 things about me, like quirky things and then my strengths and what makes me a good addition to the school. Then my last point I said “but I’m not a strong standardized test taker.” Don’t know if they will like that or not. Just kinda lost all hope because my SAT & UCSB. But UCLA has always been my dream

@imjennah Sorry for responding so late! It’s finals week… Oy. Don’t know much about parking since I don’t have a car but yes, I’ve heard parking permits are not only expensive but also extremely hard to get! Most people with cars are either upperclassmen who live in an apartment nearby or those who commute.

@UCLA1997‌ Don’t lose hope just yet! You’ve probably heard this before already, but I know people who didn’t get into UCSB but did get into UCLA. And as for your SAT scores, remember that they’re looking at the big picture. Best of luck!

Hello all! Just discovered this thread, thought I’d go ahead and hop in! I am ridiculously nervous lol but I just got into SB so thats a nice backup
