Re - UCLA Alumni Freshman Scholarship - the committees will be reading the applications this weekend and next and the plan is to conduct interviews the weekend of April 4 & 5. Good luck to everyone!!!
@youstinkbad1 Your stats and EC’s are amazing!! you definitely deserve UCSB! I think the reason why you weren’t as lucky with Davis and SD is most likely because of your essays. I’m SO sorry for your loss and I’m sure you’re a great writer (considering your scores and grades), but a lot of schools are discouraged when they see essays about a death or about volunteer work because they’re really common and often don’t give enough information about your personal qualities. And I think you still have a chance at UCLA and UCB because every school is different so who knows!
Thank you so much
@bostoniaaaaA Ya. It is seriously making me doubt my chances of getting into UCLA
Does everyone that applied receive emails from UCLA? Like student life, financial aid, etc. like emails within the past month? BARELY CAN WAIT FOR FRIDAY ANYMORE
Nothing like those, but do regents invitation, alumni scholarship, and engineering open house count?
Yikes, @steventocollege that was a little aggressive, wouldn’t you say?
@StevenToCollege There’s such a thing as “winning graciously”. Congrats on your son’s victories. But really - try the decaf.
@StevenToCollege no need for arrogance, good luck to your son. Hopefully he gets in like you believe he will
omg lol
@StevenToCollege considering that the majority of us on here are already over-worked and extra anxious right now, that was really rude.
Let @StevenToCollege’s post remind us all that this is a thread to ask questions and find other people in the same boat as you, not to brag or post stats or ask for chances (there’s an official UC chance thread in the general UC section for that). We’re all a bunch of over-stressed, nervous teenagers; there’s no need to be rude.
I think you kids overreacted. @UCLA1997 Since you are a newcomer and asked the questions, I was just trying to inform you the kinds of e-mails that kids here have been receiving. I don’t remember seeing people here talked about e-mails such as student life, financial aid, and etc.
[-O<
I am a parent and I thought it was pretty rude.
i can’t wait until friday… does anyone know what time admissions decisions will be released?
@kollegekid7 Last year it as 5pm. YMMV
Guys this is so unnecessary…
People are getting emails that others are not. Sure StevenToCollege could have been a bit more… discrete? About the wonderful emails his son is receiving, but I don’t think it’s worth all this fuss. Next time everyone should be more conscientious about the potential effects their posts could have on sensitive/anxious applicants waiting for their decisions.
@StevenToCollege
Just braggy, hurtful and unnecessary.
I got into UCR, UCD and UCSD with an SAT score of 1580 so having a low or an extremely high SAT score does not guarantee you will be rejected or accepted. My GPA was very high however, and my extracurricular activities are very impressive so if you have a balance between everything you may still get in with a low GPA or SAT. Your essays matter a lot as well.
