UCLA Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion

I am 99.9% sure that the campus life email does not mean anything. Not sure about alumni scholarship email though, I think the admissions office sends certain applicants’ information to another group of people from the alumni association, so first of all, you have to had released your information on the UC application. Otherwise, I agree with @Mysonsdad. Why would they send invites to people who don’t have a chance of getting in? Really hope it is something positive for admission but not getting my hopes up just in case.

Here is the trend that I have noticed with UCLA emails. I received an alumni scholarship invite.

If it says your name in it, good.

If it doesn’t, doesn’t mean anything.

Like my alumni invite said “Dear ____,”. The campus life email and all the other marketing things from UCLA did not have my name.

@lyannastark, I don’t get it? Are you implying some people got the alumni invite with their name in it and others didn’t? Or are you saying if it starts off with your name it is good news, or do you think it means you are getting the scholarship or that you are in? I don’t know what you mean by “If your name is on it, good.” Btw, very observant.

@10s4life, aha, I was thinking that some emails for the alumni were sent with names and some without and that she was implying that those who had a good chance of getting in had their names on it.

anyone know the exact date they’re releasing decisions?

deleted: oops, wrong thread!

Do I guys think a 2-day suspension for putting juice on my friend(in sophomore year) but I explained what I learned and my counselor explained how matured I am and I made an anti bullying club, with a 2340 SAT and 4.21 UC GPA …REALLY NERVOUS CHANCES??

I know thanks man @10s4life

I submitted my regents application! When will they notify us if we are selected to interview?

Does anyone know if we can use the same essay from our UCLA application for the alumni scholarship?

@bruin2020 I’m pretty sure. The alumni association and admissions are totally separate. Why would they have us restate our activities if they could just find it on the UC app? I doubt they have access to the UC app’s ec and essay section at least. I am pretty sure that earlier somebody mentioned being on the phone with somebody at the UCLA alumni association who said that you could use the same essay.

@Mysonsdad I don’t think that just having a name in the email means that one is in. I think that admissions committee probably flagged the application as meeting whatever the alumni association wants in their alumni scholars. If the name is in the email, it means that they had to organize a mailing list for specific people to receive it. Bottom line. I think: Name=personal. No name=not.

Can someone please chance me, UCLA has been my dream since my junior school and I have been pretty tensed since the app submission day.

Thank you in advance guys.

@futurecivilguy14 sure! What is your GPA?

@futurecivilguy14, what classes did you take in grades 10 & 11 and did you get all A’s?

I had Physics, chemistry, maths , computer science ( thats like the toughest set of subjects my school offers)
Also, my GPA was a 94/100 @bruin2020 @Mysonsdad

Also, i have been given a predicted score of 94% for my grade 12 exams. I’m from India

@futurecivilguy14 CBSE right? Although my SAT of 2320 is higher than yours, your predicted scores are higher than mine (94>87) How much you got in 11th? And also, if your cumulative percentage from 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th is greater than 80, you’re golden. Your EC involvement exceeds that of most applicants from CBSE curriculum, so in context, that’s really good. I think you have a good shot, provided your essays are as good as you say they are :’)

Can you guys chance me please?
