I just talked with my friend who has pretty stellar stats and applied to UCLA, he didn’t get the email. I’m less sure now than I was before that this meant something, but I still think it does. @vi0linmonster I mean why would they change emails?
For those of you who have received this email from newbruins@saonet.ucla.edu, did you also receive the alumni scholarship invitation by e-mail?
@vi0linmonster I agree with you. Hopefully its the former.
@mom2one98 No I didn’t receive the alumni scholarship
Hey guys, are y’all talking about the “Find your Place at UCLA” email? I got the alumni scholarship invitation and this new email, at 3:01 PM PST
Let me be the one to assure everyone that this email does not mean a thing and let me tell you how I know;
I, as an out of state applicant, fell just short of meeting the minimum GPA requirement to even apply to UC schools. I qualified for free applications so I did it anyway cause I knew after my first semester senior grades I would qualify, but then there was the realization I couldn’t submit mid year grades blah blah blah…
Anyway, I got the email.
So, no, it doesn’t mean anything.
@majesticmarmarr I thought so too, thanks! I believe the alumni scholarship invite and/or regents are the indicators
I have higher stats than what most have posted in here, and I didn’t get the email. My essays were also EXTREMELY personal. OOS here.
i agree, just a mass email…
Ok, just to make sure can yall post here when you get the email? Include the time you got it. Thanks!
Hoping the change in emails means something! But trying not to get my hopes up too high… They did a pretty good job if they’re trying to be sly.
**I got an invite to apply for the alumni scholarship.
And the email came in at 1:00 pm today
Well, I guess, not to deter the assurance I just tried to give, but I did recieve the supplemental questionnaire, but still. It’s really nothing guys.
I know it’s the CC mentality to completely analyze every bite of information these schools send out, but if I’m being completely honest, there’s a trend emerging that I think a lot of you are missing. Anything that has historically affected admissions decisions or has even been even slightly indicative of the outcome of a decision has always been something related to academia (or explicitly stated like the augmented review). Student life is NOT academia.
My point is, wait patiently for a decision, and stop being those annoying people that help lead to the stigmatization of this website. You’re ruining the experience for yourselves, and in some cases, setting yourself up for disappointment. The last thing I want to see is any of us disappointed because of the mentality that this website brings out of us. <3
@majesticmarmarr The UCs do accept people with less than the minimum required GPA tho.
I JUST got the email at 6pm PST. I was worried before but it seems like it doesn’t mean anything!
But would you feel the same if you had gotten the email? @berkeleybetch
@berkeleybetch, S also has stats higher than posted here, no email
@twinshk2 really? Lol but y tho. What’s the point of having the minimum in place then?
It’s just UCLA anyways, go Banana Slugs!
@sadlyoptimistic Don’t you wish we could all predict our emotions and feelings during events that haven’t happened yet? :))
