You could also argue that people who received a regents or any other likely COULD be excluded from this email list since they are guaranteed to be accepted.
@Mysonsdad See! My point exactly. Just relax my little dears. UCLA is just a month away for all of us. <3
I got the alumni scholarship email as well as the newbruins email today. I posted my stats before and I think that I have a decent shot at UCLA. I hope that there is a correlation between the alumni scholarship email/ campos life email and acceptance, but I guess the best we could do now is wait.
Good Luck!!!
Then what would be the point of sending out the cute little email then? LMAO.
It seems like the higher stats kids didn’t get the email, but borderline or lower did.
You guys are all going nuts… Whether that email is a sign of acceptance or not, we’ll find out in about 20 days. Just be patient and wait.
I got the newbruin email but not the alumni scholarship. My stats are low for UCLA engineering
@Mysonsdad That seems too be accurate. I feel like the URM’s are getting this too.
@IBGuy101 do you think my stats are low? I’m not URM and I applied to letters of science and arts. My stats are on post 561.
@IBGuy101, UCLA or any public university in California is not (supposed) to use race in admissions (Prop 209). Perhaps the people who listed they were minorities also happen to have lower stats and would have gotten it regardless.
@berkeleybetch, I edited my post above. The info you saw is still accurate though
UCLA is not just based on stats and also UCLA is one of those schools that are completely hard to predict whether one will get in or not. Just because you have pretty high/amazing stats, you are not guaranteed to get in.
I received the newbruins email and I got an invite for the Bunche scholarship in January. My stats are right at the UCLA average I believe. My major is Political Science. I am Mexican-American, female.
I got it at 6:02 pm PST.
And also I appreciate you guys analyzing different things and bringing in different points of view on issues like these even though most of the time we’re overanalyzing, so don’t be afraid to speak up on what you suspect or think. When it comes to “bringing false hopes”, it really depends on each individual so I do recommend all of you who are active members of this forum to not have too high of hopes from anything you read on here!
This new bruins email kind of remind me of this housing thing that UCSD accidentally did (2?) years ago that did correlate with whether an applicant got accepted or not… but that happened only like a week or so before they were going to release their decisions. I feel like it might still be a little early for UCLA to be officially done with all their applications.
Got that too. I was wondering the same thing… why use a different email if it’s supposedly going out to all applicants? @IBGuy101
@vi0linmonster LOL. That passive aggressiveness was cute, but I have no idea why some of you are acting like I completely offended or tried to misguide you. As soon as someone is analytically objective and rational when it comes to these “signs from the gods”, someone’s feelings are hurt. I understand admissions are high stakes but some of you should really calm down. :o3
@dashley I sent an alumni scholarship app.
Guys. Type in:
onto google. Take a minute or two to see what you come up with. I feel like both sides of this arguments could be equally valid.
From what I can see, “@saonet.ucla.edu” is the generic department email for UCLA. so, financial aid department would be “finaid@saonet.ucla.edu”.
Edit:
I will try to post a thread on reddit UCLA to see what people have to say.
Only 2015 was the 20th, 2014 was the 21st, 2013 was the 22nd, 2012 was the 21st. I thought they all came out the 3rd Friday of the month, but if the 1st is a Thursday or Friday then they come out the fourth Friday of the month, but still a date in the low 20’s.
So I am sticking with the 18th.
Just talked to someone who thinks he has absolutely no chance of getting into UCLA.
He didn’t get the email.
