But on top of my email it says I can unsubscribe. So it’s promotional and doesn’t mean jack. Lol guys I wish it meant that we were “new bruins” but it’s another promotional email that’s all :’)
I hope I’m not bursting anyone’s bubble, but I have low stats and still received the email from newbruins@saonet.ucla.edu on the 23rd.
I have a 3.55 UC gpa (not even saying my unweighted, as it’s even more horrendous), a 2330 sat, no hooks, and I’m an Asian applying for engineering.
Soo I really think this is just a promotional email, and that it doesn’t signify anything. 
A 2230 is not low stats

@Mysonsdad and @bosnian Yes I know, I meant the GPA!!! 
Also, a 2330 is high, but for an Asian applying for engineering, I would say that this score would be just about average… Not so impressive that it would make up for my GPA.
I just got the email at 11 PM pacific time on the dot - must be automated and coming in waves.
@MiniCHAMP While I do believe Asians have a high average test score, it’s ridiculous to suggest a 2330 is “average”. I got a 2320 and I’m holding my head high, you should too :’)
I got the email Feb. 23rd at 4p.m but am not too hopeful for getting in considering my test scores are low

Well, I read all the posts about this New Bruin email thing. Personally, I don’t want to think of it as anything and wanna stay calm and all.

BTW got the email about 10 hrs ago
SAT: 2050
SAT2: 790 MATH2 (750 MATH1 they don’t consider)
GPA: 4 UW
Major: Pre-econ
international: Mongolian (fyi kinda asian)
EX: a lot of volunteer work, summer work for 3 yrs, most extracurriculars are about equality and empowering women.
math tutor, math team.
Essays: 1 super personal and another super quirky haha.
(also a girl, if it helps hahaha)
PS: didn’t receive the scholarship email from UCLA but got it from UCB.

I really think this email is promotional, and we just happen to be receiving it at different times. I received mine today 6:00 am sharp (I live in Los Angeles).
