@dashley ya I think this is just promotional too! But why would they decide to change their email address!? They caused so much unnessary worry lol.
Lol… I also got the email finally, and like I said, absolutely unrelated to the admission decision. 
I got mine at 8 last night.
D went through her emails and she received this email from newbruins@… on 2/23/16. I was really freaking out for awhile thinking she did not receive it. I wish I knew what it meant though. Calling the school will not help, school will say the email was a promo and address means nothing. I’m sure they will not just willingly say it is a likely letter or acceptance.

DD got her email at 8am. It would be interesting to see if this email means anything. UCLA is her academic match, but knowing unpredictable way UCLA admission works we don’t hold our breath.
She applied to Engineering major. What majors got email today at 8 PST?
I consider myself with <1% chance to get into UCLA. I did not get the alumni email from UCLA but got one from Berkeley. Second I did not get the newbruins email as of now. The only promotional e-mail I get from UCLA are the ones that are not addressed to the person and generic ones that send links to their admissions/campus life etc websites… I did a survey of some of my friends in school ( a large contingent goes to UCLA so maybe a better representation of in-state stats vs here in CC). about 40% (4/10 is asked) got the email as of yesterday evening. About 200+ apply from my school. Most of them got the email in the time frame of this thread (no one got it way ahead as one email suggested earlier). The ones that got it have a decent chance of getting accepted (at least hoped). I can’t say for other majors but the ten of them were spread between engineering and Econ (no political majors or history etc where I am unsure what the stats are relative to college average). Ethnicity is pretty much Asian…the 4 who got it all had very high SATs (think close to 2300). GPA was little spread as unsure what the Weighted was on average, so I don’t want to post it… but can’t imagine 2300 SAT and low GPA. Even if it exists it won’t be the average. All 10 (incl me) got the UCB alumni email…
I think UCLA email means something… not 100%; just a better chance if you get it - IMHO…

I got mine (the latest one, basically everything combined) at 1:00 PM yesterday (Feb 27th 2016).
My sister told me when she applied last year as a transfer she got them too, and I believe everyone gets them.
@Ballerina016 I am engineering and received the email 8 pm PST. They are probably sending them out by major, but if so than @benkenobi 's post about their engineering friends could mean otherwise.
D got it yesterday (2/27) @ 9:00 PM EST ( D is OOS). Life Sciences major
^Nevermind, realized that your post said 8 am. Maybe they are doing it by last name, or another factor.
Got the email @ 7:02 am this morning. Engineering major.
I also wanted to add that one of the 4 already got accepted to UCB on early admit…

I really think that the UCLA alumni scholarship means something because it looks like only a few kids from CC and from my school got it. Idk what this newbruins email means tho.

@momofdgts I got mine at 6PM EST and I applied as a life sciences major too, so I don’t think they are sending it out in waves based on major.
I have extremely low stats and I am sure that I won’t get in but I still received the email. It does NOT mean ANYTHING.
D received email yesterday 4pm est. school of TFT. Also rec’d alumni scholarship email.
