I talked about my recent accomplishments and what I can bring to UCLA.
@thianos I just talked about a new SAT score that was significantly higher and some personal information.
We should all post what we all wrote about in our appeals. Maybe, that can help the next class figure out which appeals would work and which appeals wonāt.
I wrote about how I had to take care of a family member who had cancer, which affected my extracurricular accomplishments, as well as my academic ones, too.
Iām praying that Iāll be accepted. The educational opportunities they have are extremely valuable.
Also, do they release decisions on a Sunday?
Iām OOS. If accepted, I would pay full tuition to attend.
i can share privately if youāre interested. i definitely am really disappointed that i was rejected within the first wave despite submitting the very last day (meaning it was a very quick decision). i poured my heart out in my appeal while working on it for two weeks and had many people look over it, but i guess luck just wasnāt on my side.
ah unfortunately i was rejected in the first wave
i faced a lot throughout my high school years between balancing family responsibilities with school, and at the end of the junior year, my dad was laid off the same week my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. obviously this led to a drop in my grades (almost all bās and my first ever c) and i used the additional information section to explain this decline. this is also why i didnāt include my own hospitalization until this appeal. i almost feel like iām making excuses for myself and maybe thatās why ucla rejected me twice, but itās just the truth.
the waves are definitely not in chronological order, I submitted mine on the last day and the decision is still pending.
i go to a highly competitive high school and since i had to balance family responsibilities with academics, i only fell in the top 40% of my school overall, but on my uc application, it stated i was in the top 9% statewide. iām not sure what my uc gpa is but i have a 3.58 uw & 4.10 w as well as a 31 act, 1320 sat, 710 sat ii history, and 700 sat ii literature. itās definitely on the lower end of the spectrum, which is why i believe i was rejected despite my explanation of why everything is so low.
@atharmony I am so sorry for youā¦you went through a lot throughout high school. Itās UCLAās loss that they are losing out on someone like you. I wish you luck wherever you go!
I know we survived a couple waves of rejections, but there are still a lot of us that havenāt got a decision. They do not accept many appeals as they already rejected us and have a large list of waitlists. We are just a small portion of the appeals because not everyone talks on this thread. I think we still got a long way to go, and donāt get your hopes up. At the end of the day, they would rather accept someone off the waitlist than an appeal. This is the truth, not trying to be a negative nancy.
Hey guys, my appeal also has not been rejected so far. Iām surprised since I originally applied to CS and sent in my appeal on 14th
@krispey I understandā¦I am not keeping my hopes up too highā¦but I feel appeals have a higher chance this yearā¦again this is my opinion and I can be wrong lol but I just have a feeling
@UCLAParent123: No information on appeals for this years applicants. I do know that none of the schools set aside spots for appeals so the appeal has to have a compelling basis for them to accept a student over a wailtlisted student.
Last year there was 938 appeals submitted and 8 appeal accepted. This data does not differentiate between Freshman or Transfers.
@Gumbymom Do you know how the appeal process at UCLA works? Why do they release in waves? Iāve heard that they release all acceptances last. Is this true?
@UCLAParent123: I do not have any inside knowledge of how the appeal process works.
The UCās have become heavily reliant on the waitlist to meet enrollment target and therefore appeals are likely to receive more scrutiny so this is why they may be taking longer. All regular acceptance are released at once, but appeal decisions are not. I believe last year the appeal decisions were also released in waves similar to this year.
Heyy guyss! International student here! I also appealed for ucla on april 13th and no news yet!! Hopefullyy good news will come to us all soon??
According a Reddit poll, 4 people have gotten their appeals granted.
Hi everybody!! I low key have been just lurking? but Iām oos and I appealed on April 1st and I am a survivor of the the first waves as well and I hope we all can get in!!
