UCLA Class of 2024 Appeal Thread

@thianos can you send a link to that poll?

i saw on reddit that some people were rejected today, was there a wave today?

Search ucla appeal on reddit and you’ll see two posts. The one with the poll has 10 people who said they got in thus far with appeals but I am doubtful that’s true as no spaces are set aside for appeals and the waitlist is far from finished.

Dw guys I DOUBT anyone got accepted already
like that would be so strange
but I mean apparently someone got in through appeal for UCSD so??? Maybe?? Idk

My portal still has no change so idk

Wait, so was there an appeal rejection wave today too?

Based on the Reddit poll, things aren’t looking so hot for us appealers. About 26 people have been accepted on appeal (take it with a grain of salt). Time to move on from here.

@thianos that’s not accurate. People would’ve reported it here. Especially since this thread has had 10K+ views.

That seems reasonable but I don’t like getting my hopes up in situations that seem to be stacked against us. But let’s hope for best I guess.

Based on last years appeal rates, I’ll put into perspective on what your chances are.

It’s like writing your name on a slip of paper and placing it in a hat with 199 other slips of paper that say reject. Chances are pretty low (6/938) last year. Maybe this year might be higher but we’ll find out I guess.

It looks like appeal rejections will slowly roll on during the weekdays (waves being from 7-10 am).

@thianos that would be EXTREMELY unlikely because 1) no appeal has ever been accepted around this time based on previous threads and patterns and 2) chances are extremely slim but it’s still worth a shot. Don’t give up ALL hope yet. I think it really depends on what you wrote about and what it meant to you.

@thianos Also, we’ve already passed 3 rejections waves + I guess there may have been one today too
so I feel like that appeals may have been compelling enough to not get rejected in the first 2 waves!

I hope each and every one of you get in. Your determination and drive to be successful makes me question whether UCLA is good enough for you. Best of luck these upcoming weeks.

Also the poll can’t be accurate because in previous years, there were no appeal acceptances that came out this early
they usually came around like 2 weeks into May

@thianos I hope you get in too!

Also, there couldn’t have been appeal acceptances yet based on previous year threads
it could have also been people who in previous years who have been accepted to UCLA by appeal who are doing the poll or a ■■■■■

According to the ucla appeal class of 2022 thread:

"My daughter appealed in 2015 and the same pattern has been consistent since then.

In 2015 denials came out 2 weeks before appeals that were accepted. She received her acceptance on 5/9/2015 at 6:30am.

This year it is my son. I am hopeful for everyone who is still waiting like our family."

So maybe the next wave of appeals is this week either Friday or Saturday

@thianos I’m going to be optimistic and pray I get in. Umich, which accepted like 50 students off the waitlist last year has so far accepted like 1000 off of waitlist this year. Same with Vanderbilt. For UT Austin, some of my friends were accepted off appeal even though they had no new information. I even know someone who’s denial was changed to acceptance. UT legit emailed and said “We now have opening in the College of engineering. Please come even though we rejected you.”

Same with Washu and University of Illinois. They both emailed denied kids saying that they could admit them now. This will be a crazy year. it’s a good year to be appealing/on waitlist

@UCLAParent123 that’s great news then! Let’s hope and pray that UCLA works out for all of us!

are appeals and waitlist decisions also determined by the number of people in your school who committed to UCLA?
