UCLA Class of 2024 Appeal Thread

@UCLAParent123 That sounds very encouraging. Let’s all hope for the best. But remember that UCs and these schools may have different criteria in which appeals they decide to accept.

@UCLAParent123 wait but Umich took off 1000 people from their waitlist this year? isn’t that a huge number of people?

Was there any wave today? Because my portal is still the same.

I don’t think there was a wave today.

Logically, appeals will come after the waitlist is fully finished. Waitlist applicants have priority over appeal applicants, so they’re going to see how many spots are leftover after all the waitlist decisions have been finish.

This is when appeals that made it past the cut will be accepted. So in a sense, no news may be good news, unless the admissions committee hasn’t gotten to all the appeals yet.

My portal has:

Dear _________,

We have received your request to reconsider our admission decision for Fall Quarter 2020. We are in the process of reviewing your record again.

Please note that a decision may not be reached until after May 1st so please plan accordingly. Once a decision has been made, the result of your appeal will be posted on this site.

@thianos same here. I’m hoping there is some movement this friday/saturday

I feel like submission dates don’t matter and that they probably start reviewing all appeals after April 15th.

Some people submitted theirs later and already got a response. I’m thinking they haven’t gotten to all the appeals yet.

@thianos No what I think they do is that they have read through all the appeals and start to filter out the ones that they know for sure that didn’t have any new/compelling information. For example, people who all got rejected on 4/30 and in the waves that came after probably had little to zero compelling information in their appeal. If we didn’t have compelling info. in ours, we would have already gotten rejected in those waves. After that, they maybe start to go down and see who to accept in these next two weeks. But I am sure they have read through all the appeals that have been submitted so far. And yeah, submission date doesn’t matter for appeals.

@thianos and also, earlier in the thread I mentioned that someone from Class of 2022 UCLA appeal thread posted that her daughter had appealed to ucla in 2015 and appeal denials came out two weeks before acceptances and it’s been in similar waves every year after that …there should definitely be something that comes out in these next two weeks

@samkr14 untrue. I had a lot of new and compelling information and my appeal was granted at other places, but not at UCLA. I sent in my appeal on April 15 and heard back on the 30th with a rejection. I think its just their decision, not based on whether I had new/compelling information.

@pdiddy415 You think so? I have extreme circumstances and have talked to my counselor and she thinks even with an extremely low appeal rate that they will at least reconsider if you are a strong applicant.

@pdiddy415 I am pretty sure it depends on the admissions committee then regarding if you are a strong applicant or not. If you had the same appeal at other places and got accepted and got rejected at UCLA, I am guessing it depends on your original application

Still waiting lol

Some waitlist decisions were released this morning. They’re really using up the waitlist this year.

Anyone hear anything back? Still nothing for me.

What were your stats, out of curiosity. Maybe these can be an indicator as to whether you’ll be accepted. Here are mine:

SAT: 1480 (720 ebrw 760 math)
GPA: 4.6 weighted (4.17 UC capped)
Class rank: unknown but top 9%
APs: Psych and Calc BC (5). Chem, Lang (4),
SAT II: Math 2 (780)

I think next week they will release a wave according to how they did it last year.

Nothing for me either…they either are going to release it end of this week or maybe next week because class of 2022 someone got it on the 9th and class of 2023 someone got it on the 14th according to the threads on CC

Did anything happen today? So far the appeal waves and waitlist waves have been released at the same time and there were waitlist decisions released today. Any updates?
