@UCLAParent123 No update to my portal yet either. I think this may honestly be a good sign because UCLA wants a class of 6300+ students this year
Were there any appeal decisions that came out today?
Nada, check back here on Friday. The first waitlist wave has until May 7th to decide, so maybe they might release decisions on May 8th.
Oh and also, the people who got their waitlist decisions back today, their SIR date is 5/11
Ugh can they just hurry up and give me my rejection already pls
@UCLAParent123 I heard that a lot of returning students (sophomores, juniors, seniors) arenāt returning back to campus for UCLA this upcoming Fall. Maybe this might open more spots up. What do you think?
@thianos Really? Where did you hear this? Most of the time schools use transfers to fill in the spaces left by dropouts so idk.
@UniCoIn I called the Admissions office and they said it doesnāt matter when you submit, as long as itās before the deadline because they donāt even open the Appeals until after June 1st since thatās commitment day for transfer students. But also depending on your major and how many spots are filled up, if they are completely full, they donāt even consider looking at the appeals because thereās no room.
This was from last year 2019. This confirms my suspicions and I was right. They havenāt gotten to all the appeals yet. A transfer last year called the admission office and this was their response.
appeal got rejected, mine said:
"In response to your recent appeal regarding our Fall 2020 admission decision, we have carefully reviewed your application again. We are sorry to inform you that the initial decision stands.
Because UCLA continues to receive more applications for admission than we can accommodate, thousands of strong students were denied admission. Our decision is not a reflection of your potential to be a successful university student, nor is it meant to minimize your accomplishments. Rather, it is a reflection of the highly competitive admission process at UCLA.
If attending the University of California, Los Angeles remains your ambition, you should know that there are other opportunities for admission. UCLA also accepts applications from junior-level transfer students. To learn more about transferring to UCLA and how to optimize the transfer experience, please visit www.admission.ucla.edu/transfer or www.admission.ucla.edu/tap.
We wish you success in your academic endeavors."
@yyu2002 when did you get it back
@yyu2002 youāll be successful wherever you end up man. forks up!
@thianos I think that is for Transfer appeals. Those arenāt even due until May 15th. They have definitely read Freshman appeals already.
@thianos Yeah thereās no way that they havenāt read them yet lolā¦they wouldnāt have started to reject people from 4/30 if they hadnāt read them yet
Ahhh ok, you guys are probably right.
Wait but they take in based on how many spaces they have in the college or do they do by major? Because I applied as L&S and that has the most applicants
Hey guys, is there anyone who appealed for an engineering major? I appealed for CS. (though confused that Iām still not rejected)
Any news today?
Nothing for me @UCLAParent123
Ditto @samkr14 @UCLAParent123
@thianos @UCLAParent123 @samkr14 me neither
