There was a rejection wave this morning. Mine’s still pending. I think we r looking good if you haven’t been denied, as there have been like 5 denial waves so far…
@UCLAParent123 There was? I still have no update to my portal, as of 10:26 AM.
This brings me to another thought. If they had truly read all the appeals and they knew which ones they were going to deny, how come there are so many rejection waves. Why not just reject everyone all at once?
This leads me to think that they are still reading the appeals. Logically, if I was an admission officer and I knew which appeals we were going to deny, I would’ve just outright sent denials to all the appeals, rather than doing them in waves.
Since last year there were only 6 acceptances, I’m guessing this year, they’ll definitely have more than 6, but no more than 30 probably.
@thianos They probably read through all the appeals and picked the ones they were going to accept when and if they had space to accept…they reject the ones they were not going to accept in waves…And historically, according to the other threads from past years, UCLA has been sending out appeal acceptances around 5/9-5/14 so I am guessing that’s going to be the same this year too but I am not too sure
@thianos I get what ur saying but that doesn’t make sense because no one has gotten accepted yet. If it were truly rolling, don’t you think we would’ve heard at least a couple of people getting in? There will probably be a lot more appeal admits this year.
Damn, still no updates with me as well. Hopefully, no news means good news :d !
By the way @UCLAParent123, how do you know that there was a rejection wave today?
@UCLAParent123 I definitely agree but remember waitlist has priority over appeals. They wouldn’t give a spot to someone who appealed over a waitlisted student.
@CollegeApplica It was on Reddit…someone posted this morning that they got rejected and asked if anyone has been accepted yet
@samkr14 oh ok, thanks!
Thank you for your email.
Our office intends to notify Freshmen/Transfers of a decision regarding their appeal no later than the end of May/June. Keep in mind that although all appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, the number of decisions reversed is very low.
Sincerely,
UCLA Undergraduate Admission
@thianos Where did you get this? I haven’t gotten any email.
@thianos oh wait nvm u emailed them
What does “case by case basis” mean?
It means they review all of them
does anyone think appeal decisions will be out tomorrow?
@samkr14 We’ll find out. If they do release decisions, they will most definitely be released in the mornings. I’ve seen waves released around 7-8 am (waitlist and appeal decisions alike). Hopefully, people who’ve been lurking on this sub can post their results.
Ok so last year someone got accepted on 5/14 and the year before, someone got accepted 5/9…so there may be one tomorrow or saturday or maybe next week
Also, this was on the UCLA c/o 2022 appeal thread so this was in the year of 2018:
"I am a parent of a current UCLA student who was admitted on a appeal.
My son applied and was denied. He applied to a professional school (Arts and Architecture) which is very difficult to get into due to the low numbers admitted. We appealed but to Letters and Sciences.
Typically the denials are sent out 2 weeks before the appeals that were approved. There is still no guarantee but at this point, no news is good news.
I confirmed the dates with admissions. You will get a response by Friday or latest Saturday EARLY morning."
^This was posted on May 9th, 2018. May 9th in the year of 2018 was a Thursday. The person who posted it said her daughter also appealed to UCLA in 2015 and was accepted on 5/9/2015…so in conclusion, we may be hearing back either today or tomorrow.
