UCLA Class of 2024 Appeal Thread

@DarthMalgus OOS appeals will definitely be prioritized in this current pandemic. UCs are short a boat load of money, so they’ll definitely choose OOS appeals over the IS. (basically, they’re gold digging and would probably take a less qualified OOS over a more qualified IS)

But then again, do you really want to be paying over 60k for a public school education, when that money could be going to a private school education?

I hope they read all of them already and we are the ones that will get blessed

@DarthMalgus I don’t think they go by if you are IS or OOS…It’s most likely based on what you based your appeal on. The people who got rejected in the earlier waves most likely did not have any new information or info they didn’t include in their original application.

@thianos the reason I want this appeal to go through is that the private schools that I have right now are as an option are okay at best. Payment isn’t a huge issue for my family, and they really like UCLA, and so do I. UCLA has great resources for what I want to do, and it seems like a great place. I wouldn’t have appealed if I know I wouldn’t go there.

Hi! Did you guys submit your updated first semester grades with your appeal? Never did because I don’t remember them asking for one.

@sansik345 Yikes, I should’ve included that, but I didn’t because I ended up getting my lowest GPA ever in high school.

Same do you think they won’t consider our appeals until that is submitted or does it not matter as much?

I haven’t heard of many appeals including their semester grades in. They specifically mention that “senior grades aren’t a basis for appeal.”

They don’t require your senior year grades for an appeal

@sansik345 “UCLA does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Therefore, though all appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, the number of decisions reversed on appeal is very low. We advise you to consider the following carefully before you decide to draft an appeal. Every application has gone through extensive reviews. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit it must bring to light new academic and personal information, as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances, that had not been present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. High grades received in the senior year, recently acquired awards, or an increase in activities are not a basis for the reversal of a decision.” It doesn’t say you have to submit senior grades if you appeal on their appeal website. So you are good. This is the link: http://www.admission.ucla.edu/AppealsFr.htm

Ok great thank you! I just hope they release decisions soon since it has been under review for a while now.

I didn’t focus my appeal on senior grades, but I mentioned how I received my highest GPA ever

There should be movement this week.

Thats great! Like in terms of possible acceptances or just another rejection wave? They said they typically respond three weeks after the appeal is received.

No news might be good news, but you guys realize there are a lot of us on this thread. Let alone the people that are lurking around. Not many people get accepted, so it’s impossible if we all get in. They accept less than 1% of appeals.

@krispey It is likely they accepted more this year than last year due to covid, even if they did or didn’t receive the same amount of appeals as last year. Who knows?

@krispey Ayyy my fellow realist out here. That’s probably correct but let’s hope for the best.

Ya most likely they may accept more people due to COVID and they need students lol but it can also be another way around so all we can do is just pray for the best

@thianos tbh I’m becoming more of a realist lol. I doubt they’ll accept any more people than they would the previous years. Even if we haven’t heard back I’m not sure what’s gonna happen. I’m just pretty frustrated as I turned my appeal in within 15 minutes of the portal opening and still no response lol

@bryanngocpham I don’t think it matters when you submitted. I think the appeals that clearly weren’t going to cut it were thrown out already.
