@DarthMalgus Ya and also, if they really were not going to accept any appeals, they would have rejected us all a long time ago LOL
My major: psychobiology
Not gonna lie, but today I sent them a rant basically saying âscrew you guysâ in the politest way possible. Weâll see how this goes but for now, I have to decide between UCSD and UCSB before May 14th.
It turns out a lot of people are actually awaiting their decision.
Did someone respond to your ârant?â To make you post this now? How do you know?
@thianos yikes do you know how many? Also Iâm going to ucsd for now so you should pick SD (:
@LisaBeee Iâll keep everyone updated on how the rant I sent goes.
@bryanngocpham Yes people on Reddit are awaiting their decision, in addition to everyone on this forum. This will be interesting though.
@thianos whatâs this rant you speak of? do you send the admissions office an email about appeals?
@samkr14 Yes, I emailed the admission office from the UCLA contact page. I wrote it impromptu, but it shouldnât give me an edge or lower my chances, as they explicitly state that they do not consider LOCIs or anything along those lines. They only consider what was written in the appeal but I just wanted to give them a piece of my mind.
Edit: Iâll post my rant here once they get back to me. I canât see what I wrote because I emailed them and they didnât give me a transcript of my email back.
The truth is, we donât need to be Bruins to be successful.
e.g.) Woodman, founder of GoPro, got accepted to UC Berkeley and rejected from UCSD (he appealed and got accepted).
Some people last year waited all the way until June⊠do you think thatâll happen to us?? ):
@bryanngocpham no I donât think so because they are doing a lot of waves compared to last year
@samkr14 @bryanngocpham or maybe everyone thought âI should appeal this year because my chances will be higher due to COVID-19â which in turn lowers everyoneâs chances. Maybe they received a much larger portion of appeals this year compared to previous years.
@thianos yeah Iâm worried because someone told me USC had a high volume of appeals this year⊠I wonder if the same is happening to UCLA
honestly, I have been obsessive over this stuff just to come to realize, it will come out when it comes out. Letâs just keep this thread informational when things come out.
honestly, I think everyone should stop being worried about thisâŠthey will release the decisions whenever they want to. So please donât panic lol and be calm
Portal is still the same
Is there any change for anyone?
nope. Iâm honestly getting tired of waiting.
@UCLAParent123 I feel like they want to figure out how many they will take off the waitlist before they decide if and how many appeals they want to admit. I have a feeling they have a group of appeals they have cut it down to that they are waiting to see if and if so how many they will end up taking.
@UCLAParent123 Looking back, you were right about âno news being good news.â Our appeals made the cut but there isnât space to admit everyoneâs. They probably look at our original application and appeal and admit the strongest applicant.
Yeah, plus I think they may release another set of waitlist decisions because today is the SIR date for those who got in in the recent wave last week. So they have definitely cut it down to the number of appeals they can maybe accept if (and HOPEFULLY LOL) have space for
Nothing today folks. Check back tomorrow ?
