UCLA Class of 2024 Appeal Thread

@DarthMalgus Ya and also, if they really were not going to accept any appeals, they would have rejected us all a long time ago LOL

My major: psychobiology

Not gonna lie, but today I sent them a rant basically saying “screw you guys” in the politest way possible. We’ll see how this goes but for now, I have to decide between UCSD and UCSB before May 14th.

It turns out a lot of people are actually awaiting their decision.

Did someone respond to your “rant?” To make you post this now? How do you know?

@thianos yikes do you know how many? Also I’m going to ucsd for now so you should pick SD (:

@LisaBeee I’ll keep everyone updated on how the rant I sent goes.

@bryanngocpham Yes people on Reddit are awaiting their decision, in addition to everyone on this forum. This will be interesting though.

@thianos what’s this rant you speak of? do you send the admissions office an email about appeals?

@samkr14 Yes, I emailed the admission office from the UCLA contact page. I wrote it impromptu, but it shouldn’t give me an edge or lower my chances, as they explicitly state that they do not consider LOCIs or anything along those lines. They only consider what was written in the appeal but I just wanted to give them a piece of my mind.

Edit: I’ll post my rant here once they get back to me. I can’t see what I wrote because I emailed them and they didn’t give me a transcript of my email back.

The truth is, we don’t need to be Bruins to be successful.

e.g.) Woodman, founder of GoPro, got accepted to UC Berkeley and rejected from UCSD (he appealed and got accepted).

Some people last year waited all the way until June
do you think that’ll happen to us?? ):

@bryanngocpham no I don’t think so because they are doing a lot of waves compared to last year

@samkr14 @bryanngocpham or maybe everyone thought “I should appeal this year because my chances will be higher due to COVID-19” which in turn lowers everyone’s chances. Maybe they received a much larger portion of appeals this year compared to previous years.

@thianos yeah I’m worried because someone told me USC had a high volume of appeals this year
I wonder if the same is happening to UCLA

honestly, I have been obsessive over this stuff just to come to realize, it will come out when it comes out. Let’s just keep this thread informational when things come out.

honestly, I think everyone should stop being worried about this
they will release the decisions whenever they want to. So please don’t panic lol and be calm

Portal is still the same

Is there any change for anyone?

nope. I’m honestly getting tired of waiting.

@UCLAParent123 I feel like they want to figure out how many they will take off the waitlist before they decide if and how many appeals they want to admit. I have a feeling they have a group of appeals they have cut it down to that they are waiting to see if and if so how many they will end up taking.

@UCLAParent123 Looking back, you were right about “no news being good news.” Our appeals made the cut but there isn’t space to admit everyone’s. They probably look at our original application and appeal and admit the strongest applicant.

Yeah, plus I think they may release another set of waitlist decisions because today is the SIR date for those who got in in the recent wave last week. So they have definitely cut it down to the number of appeals they can maybe accept if (and HOPEFULLY LOL) have space for

Nothing today folks. Check back tomorrow ?
