Nothing today folks. Check back tmr ?
Thianos - same here. This is bananas. What do you think is a realistic time frame at this point? Iām going to think this upcoming weekend, but thatās probably being a bit optimistic.
@LisaBeee Id say move on and forget that we even appealed. Thatās what Iām gonna do. In that case, good luck everyone!
- Thianos out
I think its going to be Saturday.
I think they may wait it out until May 15th as housing apps are due then
omg i typed out a long paragraph but it was deleted when i tried to make an edit lol. Hi everyone!! I made an account just so i could share this info. Iām gonna sum up what i originally posted.
Basically, on either reddit or the ucla 2024 waitlist thread here on CC, i had read that someoneās parent had called the office of admissions to confirm the latest date they would hear back & they had said 2-3 weeks. when they had posted this, it had already been around a week & i read this post either on Sunday or Monday of this week (it was posted on one of those days a few hours before I read it).
Overall, I think we should all continue to check for updates but also understand that our chances are very low. Although all of us would love to go to UCLA, transferring is always an option! The school I am committed to has just announced that fall semester will be online & it is a big school like UCLA so this will very likely happen with UCLA as well. Especially if you are OOS, understand that there are more realistic & probably better options for you at the moment!! Its taken myself a bit of convincing as well but I hope everyone will be able to move forward proactively & plan their next move! everyone on here & reading this thread is amazing & ambitious & deserves all the best! But please do not limit yourself or fall behind on other things related to the college you are committed to because you are worried about your UCLA appeal. Good luck to everyone this fall!!
@unigal248 do you have the link to that post by any chance? Thanks!
So I called admissions myself and they told me that I should hear back by the end of this week! (I appeal on April 1st within the first hour) so if anyone is in a similar situation, hopefully we hear back soon!
if you look up UCLA Class of 2024 Waitlist Discussion on this website, it should be on page 93 & itās reply #1845, & they actually posted yesterday at around noon.
the post says:
āwhen my mom called admissions, the lady we talked to said theyād be pulling people for the next 2-3 weeks (we called 4ā7 days ago) since everything w this is so unpredictableā
So if we do hear anything by the of the week (i appealed on april 3rd) then it will probably be a rejection unfortunately. i think it also may depend on what major type you applied to bc im pretty sure they are finished with L&S and Arts & Humanities waitlist applicants (i could be wrong about A&H but im almost 100% certain they are finished w Letters & Science)
@unigal248 thank you!
@unigal248 oh wait but thatās for waitlists thoughā¦I mean it may apply to appeals as well too but not too sure
@unigal248 spreading information that you donāt REALLY know about it extremely unfair for the rest of us trying to have hope. How are you 100% sure L&S is full? Some kids get off the waitlist at other schools and might choose to go their instead. Thereās no real way of knowing if we will get accepted or rejected by the end of this week. But I feel like this message is making everyone feel pessimistic and grim. Everyone should just breathe and relax. Prematurely making information up to make others stress out is absolutely unnecessary. Thank you.
oh i didnāt mean they were full! I just meant i think they notified everyone on the waitlist for L&S! from what iāve seen, the ppl still waiting are mostly engineering majors
edit: if we were to hear something as soon as this week that would mean they have a lot of ppl enrolling in order to give us an answer so soon especially if waitlist decisions are estimated to come out for the next 2 weeks or so. but if that isnāt the case & we do hear something (good news hopefully) then we know they are enrolling based on major type if that makes sense? sorry for the confusion
I think appeal decisions most likely will come out this week.
Iām on EST. No portal change today (so far). Itās early though.
Iām EST as well & same here. maybe weāll hear something Friday or Saturday morning? that seems to be the trend for acceptances
unigal - what state are you in? Iām in Ohio.
maryland!
Nothing for me either
The honest reality is UCLA doesnāt make room in their class for appeals. So for people appealing the expectation isnāt that they should get in or even hear a timely response. If anything that priority would go to a waitlist spot. It sucks but when you get denied and appeal for the spot, youāre supposed to commit and intent on going to the school you submitted an SIR too. Getting a successful appeal to UCLA should come as a surprise. It will be worse constantly checking and obsessing over UCLA when moving on is prob going to make it easier. Sending them a rant also isnāt very helpful. Admissions officers are already having to adjust to remote work and handle yield and enrollment for admitted, waitlisted, and appeals. Passive aggressive messages only make their days worse.
