If you didn’t get in you are not alone. This school rejects kids that are qualified due to space. I’m older. I went to a small non competitive state school in the southeast and my husband went to a top UC and he and I met in a top doctoral program. We had the same results from very different starting points.

A trend I notice here is UCLA’s focus on unweighted GPA. Lot of the students accepted have 4.0 with a few 3.9x sprinkled in …

For 2023 admits the 25-75th percentile of the Unweighted UC GPA was 3.95-4.00.

Given this information, I am astonished at the number of applications they get.

How does the honors program at UCLA work. From what I was reading it seemed that engineering students weren’t eligible for it.

IMO, the difficulty in UC application since the it went test blind is how to distinguish your (as in someone else) UW 4.0 from my UW 4.0.

Our approach since 2020 (basically since 8th grade) is to add 4.0 from community college. 10+ classes with a 4.0 GPA from college, and in S24’s case 15 so far. That adds a new layer to separate my UW 4.0 (HS + College) from your HS only UW 4.0. So far it is working out for S24 very well.
